Historia
Hosea has been charged by God with a difficult task-marry a prostitute in order to show God's people the nature and depth of his love for Israel. When Hosea goes to Israel to proclaim God's message, the prostitute God tells him to marry turns out to be his childhood friend Gomer. He finds her broken and abused, unwilling to trust Hosea or his God. But when marrying Hosea becomes her only choice, Gomer does what she's good at - she survives. Can Hosea's love for God and God's love for Israel heal Gomer's broken spirit?

Historia
People often think of Job sitting on the ash heap, his life in shambles. But how did he get there? What was Job's life like before tragedy struck? What did he think as his world came crashing down around him? And what was life like after God restored his wealth, health, and family? Through painstaking research and a writer's creative mind, Mesu Andrews weaves an emotional and stirring account of this well-known story told through the eyes of the women who loved him.

Outstanding presentation, outstanding research, bringing characters to life in ways I’ve never thought of. Thank you Mesu Andrews for creating this tapestry of life to surround the biblical character of Job and his wife!

Historia
Archaeologist Joshua Agar's excavation team unearths an ancient ossuary, untouched since the day it was buried. Evidence and analysis reveals that the contents of the find appear to be the six of the seven seals mentioned in the Bible's Book of Revelations. The seventh is missing. An ancient society known as the Keepers awakens, and they are after the seven seals. It has been told that whosoever breaks the seven seals will have unimaginable power and control over the new world promised through the second coming of Christ.

Not Christian fiction
Revisado: 10-31-21
Gives no glory to Jesus Christ, whatsoever. The author seems to know evil much better than he understands good. Endorses superstition, glorifies mankind, worships a human being, is non-biblical, and I found it appalling. Don’t bother to read it.

Story good, need a new narrator
Revisado: 10-30-18
The story is intriguing but the narrator has no idea how to use pauses. he runs one sentence into the next without a breath or heartbeat, even when the speaker is changing. you can't tell who is saying what. it is extremely unnatural and disconcerting. i will try to avoid buying anything Lamont reads b/c it is so annoying.

Awful! I will never read another Dekker book
Revisado: 07-08-17
What was most disappointing about Ted Dekker’s story?
this book dwelt on the most ignoble and corrupt aspects of unregenerate human nature, and then tied in the Bible in the last 15 minutes of the story, as if that made listening to ten hours of grotesque madness ok.
What didn’t you like about Rob Lamont’s performance?
this narrator spoke so fast it took all the fun out of listening. no pauses between sentences even when the speaker changed. words were spoken so fast they were incomprehensible. a very poor reader.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
certainly not worth ten hours of crazy.
Any additional comments?
i read Christian books for the uplifting power of God. it was missing in this book.

good story, rough narrator
Revisado: 08-21-16
What made the experience of listening to Asher the most enjoyable?
the story is pretty good except for using the name Jesus as his Greek name instead of Yeshua when none of the Greeks had heard of him yet. most of the story adhered to the biblical accounts, except for that blatant error. the narrator was a piece of work though, stopping after every phrase as if it was the end of the sentence, mispronouncing common names like Bethlehem, and a few other idiosyncrasies that made it difficult to listen to.
What other book might you compare Asher to and why?
na
How could the performance have been better?

Who was the most memorable character of Asher and why?

too much demonic
Revisado: 06-23-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No, when the text included satanic prayers in latin read out loud i turned it off. it is probably extremely realistic - there is definitely demonic worship in the vatican, but i don't want to spend my time hearing about it.
Any additional comments?
no verbal satanic prayers. words have power and these are curses.
