Historia
It all begins in July 1926 when, for the first time in years, the earl has planned a family weekend. As the family members come together, secrets, problems, joys, and sorrows are revealed. As old enemies come out of the shadows, and the Swanns' loyalty to the Inghams gets tested in ways none of them could have predicted, it's up to the Cavendon women to band together and bring their family into a new decade, and a new way of life.

Just too trite
Revisado: 04-05-15
So many things wrong. Language in both the "upstairs " and "downstairs " out of period and probable education level, the author appears to think no one has any imagination or memory at all and has to reiterate details throughout the book " Lord Meldrew, her awful father", Clarissa, his estranged wife", just in case we forgot the first 3 references. Narration was awful. Apparently all women whispered and had little girl voices in the 20's.

Historia
World War II has finally come home to Britain, but it takes more than nightly air raids to rattle intrepid spy and expert code breaker Maggie Hope. After serving as a secret agent to protect Princess Elizabeth at Windsor Castle, Maggie is now an elite member of the Special Operations Executive–a black ops organization designed to aid the British effort abroad–and her first assignment sends her straight into Nazi-controlled Berlin, the very heart of the German war machine. Relying on her quick wit and keen instincts, Maggie infiltrates the highest level of Berlin society, gathering information to pass on to London headquarters. But the secrets she unveils will expose a darker, more dangerous side of the war–and of her own past.

Narrator. She doesnt end sentences & is breathy
Revisado: 09-06-13
Would you consider the audio edition of His Majesty's Hope to be better than the print version?
Yes. The narrator does not complete sentences as one would expect to have a fullstop at the end of a sentence. She draws out the last word of a sentence and seems to be "breathy". I almost stopped listening because of the monotonous narrator
How did the narrator detract from the book?
She was monotonous and boring.
Who was the most memorable character of His Majesty's Hope and why?
Maggie. Heroine
Any additional comments?
A narrator should make you believe that you are watching a movie. This narrator made me want to switch off audible and watch a movie

Historia
In the fifth book in the series, Lieutenant Lucinda Pierce encounters a death that at first appears to be suicide. In another city, Special Agent Jake Lovett pays little attention to a man who seems to be a conspiracy nut-until he's found dead. As they pursue their separate investigations, the two cases merge into one bigger crime. Together, they will need to strip away the veneer of false appearances to find the truth buried behind the façade.

worst narration
Revisado: 11-14-12
Would you try another book from Diane Fanning and/or Flora Plumb?
Never ever will I waste money on anything by this narrator. Monotone does not describe it. Very disappointing
Has False Front turned you off from other books in this genre?
Yes if the narrator is the same
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Flora Plumb?
Anyone in the world would be better
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger that I spent money on this
