Beautiful Continuation of the Black Creek Saga
Revisado: 02-03-17
I love that Braden and Wes were both introduced in Collide initially, where I loved them both individually.
Honestly, I wasn't so sure about them together. I felt so bad for Braden who was giving his all to Wes to prove he was the man for him and Wes was a consistent asshat. Which, at least he was willing to admit. But I was definitely glad to see that this didn't turn into a one sided love affair and Braden wasn't afraid to ask for Wes to fight for him. I think that really made all the difference in the ending of this book.
The addition of Jessie, also, really made this story for me. Without her Wes probably would have annoyed me too much to really enjoy it. She added just the right amount of humor, sweetness and yea, sorrow. I definitely hurt for the little girl who was working out the dawning reality that she'll never see her mother again. There were definitely a couple scenes that made my eyes sweat.
Unsurprisingly, Luke Itzvic did an awesome job with the narration. Definitely can't get enough of him. I'm glad to see that he's doing the whole series.
I read the first two books in about two days each and am now on to Pretend. Looking forward to more great work from Riley Hart. I definitely can't get enough!

I Hart Riley Hart (Haha So Cheesy)
Revisado: 02-03-17
Riley Hart is one of the first authors I started listening to when I came to Audible. Honestly, Hart never disappoints me.
I love that the story always flips between the two main characters, giving you insight into what they're thinking and feeling. I feel like sometimes, you lose a lot in a romance book when you only get one side of the story, but I've never had that problem with Hart's books.
Noah and Cooper are fucking adorable as individuals and as a couple. I loved watching their past unfold and I'm definitely a sucker for past flames being rekindled.
I'm reading through the Black Creek series and I love Luke Itzvic as the narrator, he definitely puts a lot of emotion into the reading and I never have a problem following whoever happens to be speaking at the time.
It amuses me that there are certain things that always remind me I'm reading a Hart book (if someone doesn't mention sexy forearms at least once I think I'd be shocked), but I still enjoy the easy listening style of writing.
Would definitely recommend Collide to anyone who enjoys the m/m genre and definitely one not to miss for other Riley Hart fans!

Five Stars for the Six of Crows!
Revisado: 12-23-16
I usually read a lot of reviews before, during and after I buy a audiobook, though I try not to let them influence my decision whether or not I will try a book too much.
I remember seeing this book while I was in Target looking for something to take on a plane to read and after reading the inside flap was intrigued by the premise, but I'm far more cautious about buying physical books than I am audio books (which are much easier to return if I don't enjoy them).
So when I saw this book in the black friday sale list I was delighted! The book had pretty positive scores, but a lot of the reviews I read weren't exactly glowing so on my quickly growing list of books, I put listening to this one toward the bottom. Huge mistake!
Once I started this book I found it increasingly difficult to stop. I only listen to my audiobooks at work and didn't even mind working overtime so that I could listen for a few more hours! I was definitely caught between wanting to savor it for as long as possible and wanting to find out what happened next!
I found all six leading characters adorable and intriguing and fun to listen to. The bonds formed were endearing and their banter made me laugh out loud several times. There was plenty of suspense and gut wrenching while you're trying to guess what will happen next (and always hoping that what IS happening is more than first meets the eye).
I definitely felt for all of the characters. Even Kaz, though sometimes his callousness for the rest of the group was grating. The writer did a great job of revealing just enough at just the right time to make you understand all the intricate relationships going on around you and it was great to watch them develop further.
Personally, I liked having different voice actors for all the characters, though it could get awkward when the narrators were voicing other characters than their own I felt that the voices for each character suited the. Except maybe Kaz (though I liked his voice actor) it definitely wasn't the voice that was described in the book. I didn't have a problem with the narrators pronouncing words or names so differently that you didn't understand who/what they were talking about, like other reviewers have claimed though.
My only real point of contention is that I don't understand why the characters were so YOUNG. 16~18. I mean certainly, they'd all been through hard times, but some of their life experiences I felt were a little beyond them, especially Kaz. I don't quite understand why they were chosen to be so fresh faced. Especially at the beginning when Kaz was often described in a way that initially made me believe he was much older than 17. Luckily, this dropped off after the first few chapters and once I accepted that the cast was young it didn't bother me too much. I just don't understand why they couldn't have been more along the lines of 18~20 age range. Feel like it still would have worked and then their stories might have felt a bit more credible.
Of course, I'm thinking along the lines of this day and age when maybe the author meant to make them young as some historical prevalent. Like how pilgrims would have been considered adults at 14 and 15. So maybe the explanation is just that simple.
Though I think it might also have something to do with the target age group that this book was aimed at? That being said, as a 30yr old I still found myself easily able to fall in love with this book. Definitely not too childish for an adult to enjoy.
Even though I have credits on my account I bought the second installment the day after I finished the first book so I could continue the story right away. I'm glad to have this series as an addition to my very exclusive library.
Take a gamble on this series. You might be just as surprised as I was!

Ox is Love. Ox is Life. The emotions are REAL.
Revisado: 11-09-16
It is very rare that I read or listen to books written in first person. It's not a style that I prefer because everything is based in the MCs emotions and observations of the world around them. Descriptions tend to be limited and less detailed. Everything just feels like it is less than what it could be if it were written in the third, I can literally count on one hand how many first person books I've read and actually been thoroughly absorbed by.
This is one of them.
Even though the story is told by Ox he is so immersed in everything around him that in a very short time it doesn't even feel like you're listening to a first person narrative. The characters are beautifully fleshed out and so real. There were times when what they felt was so overwhelming it brought tears to my eyes.
This is a story that takes its time and some people might find that to be a drawback. If you're looking for quick smut. This isn't it. If you want a story that is going to rivet you and pull you down a winding path of coming into your own, finding what it means to be home, discovering that loving someone can hurt so much you hate them and fighting with tooth and nail to keep your family whole, then look no further.
Everything about this book inspires me. The narrator was bliss to listen to and the different accents and inflections of the various characters made them all the more real. Besides that, the dialogue in many of the scenes is hilarious.
Five stars. Ten stars. A million stars.
There aren't enough stars to accurately portray how amazing this book is.
Definitely a must have in any m/m collection!

More! More! More!
Revisado: 11-09-16
I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series. My hope is that it will encompass other species of shifters or involve other supernatural creatures. I loved looking into the dynamic of a pride of lion shifters and enjoyed the authenticity of it based on the behaviors of the animal counterparts. I definitely want more experiences like that.
Hugh is sexy af. I definitely am partial to couples with large height differences as well as tall MCs in general, so the fact that Hugh is a ebony, seven foot Adonis was definitely a huge selling point. As was the interracial coupling, they look beautiful together in human and lion forms!
The story premise was intriguing, the characters were engaging, the romance was a slow burn sort of build and then when they finally come together, truly gripping sex scenes.
Greg Tremblay is a new voice for me, but he did an awesome job as a narrator conveying the emotions in the dialogue and setting the pace.
I'll be keeping this book at the top of my library because it's definitely one I could listen to again and again and again. <3

Just too Short to be Gripping
Revisado: 11-09-16
The narrator did a really good job for what he was given and if your the sort of person who enjoys easy listening, fluffy smut then this is a great book for you.
Personally, it just wasn't for me. The story was too short to build up any real feeling for the characters in it. Everything felt rushed and a simplified version of what could have happened if the story had been just a couple hours longer.
Sex scenes were okay, but given I hadn't built any kind of connection with the characters and they hadn't really seemed to build much of a relationship between one another, the little spoon topping the big spoon situation always confounds me. I'm more willing to accept it if the relationship is better established, but like earlier statements I've made, everything was happening too fast for the idea to gel.
It was a relatively good concept, just poorly executed.

Hunkasaurus.
Revisado: 10-22-16
This is literally the word that made me cringe so hard I stopped listening to this book. I don't know if it's the author's writing style or the way the narrator chose yo emphasize his speech while reading, but nothing about this book worked for me.
Couldn't connect to the characters, found the college setting off putting (though I'm not sure why) and the dialogue felt forced.
It also made me uncomfortable to listen to repeated descriptions of the MCsbest friend eating a lollipop at the beginning of the book.
Really disappointed as there are other books by this author that I was interested in, but now I'm not sure about purchasing them. I'm bummed. :C

Revisado: 10-22-16
THIS BOOK IS AMAZING! Loved everything about it (and honestly I wasn't sure if I would). From the story to the characters to the pacing, the narrator was completely engaging and I've already added a bunch more books written by Cardeno C and/or narrated by Sean Crisden.
This is a really great story if you love gay romance and shifters. Only complaint is that the story wasn't longer! Will definitely be collecting more of this series as the books come out!

Really Enjoyed This
Revisado: 10-11-16
This was my first audiobook on audible. A friend told me about another book on the site and it lead me to this one. I prefer third person narrative over first person and this book was great.
Loved the story and the characters. Devoured this book in about three days. Already eagerly looking for something new!
