Historia
The first volume in the An American Family series takes the reader back to 15th-century England and the tiny fishing village of Porlock where the Snow family had its roots. It is the amazing story of how they defied the greedy king and his tax men, how they smuggled their goods up and down the Bristol Channel facing murderous pirates, and how they formed the first town guild in an effort to protect themselves from greedy overlords. It has undying love affairs, grief beyond measure, and bonds of friendship that last a lifetime.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

A brave and beautiful story

My thoughts are too personal to share, but I highly recommend this book to anyone who has sought the period on end of life's short sentence, and for those who've never understood why others have.

Historia
"While the history books are filled with tales of obsessive visionary geniuses who remade the world in their images with sheer, almost irrational force, I've found that history is also made by individuals who fought their egos at every turn, who eschewed the spotlight, and who put their higher goals above their desire for recognition." This book is about air combat in WWl aircraft. The author's exceptional tally of over 40 air victories contains many vivid portrayals of air combat. The style is light and engaging.

This book was nteresting and informative, but reads like a textbook: dry, mechanical, and without style. However, for the WWI, history, or aviation enthusiast, it's worth the time.

Historia
Decades before the American Revolution, Benjamin Franklin lamented that English settlers were constantly fleeing over to the Indians - but Indians almost never did the same. Tribal society has been exerting an almost gravitational pull on Westerners for hundreds of years, and the reason lies deep in our evolutionary past as a communal species. The most recent example of that attraction is combat veterans who come home to find themselves missing the incredibly intimate bonds of platoon life.

As a Navy veteran of 21 years, with three deployments under my belt, I have struggled to understand the issues that have developed since I am embarked on my career. This book, at least for me, addressed them with startling clarity.
