Historia
Centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones, House Targaryen - the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria - took up residence on Dragonstone. Fire & Blood begins their tale with the legendary Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and goes on to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold that iconic seat, all the way up to the civil war that nearly tore their dynasty apart.

Epic at its Best
Revisado: 11-18-22
Audio book is most definitely the best way to consume this text. It was a lot of fun to learn the history (as confusing as it is) because there’s so many tales and stories littered throughout.
If you are a hardcore fan of the series this is a must read, it provides so much context for these great houses and builds some of the best characters in the series

THE HIKE
Revisado: 09-14-22
It was quite the journey to get to the end, but we’ll worth it. The author does a great job with really giving the character voice and the world they create is certainly unique. I very much enjoyed listening to the story on audiobook, I think the narrator adds so much to the overall plot.
I will say, this book is not for everyone. I found it tough to stay engaged at times because of the bizarre nature of the story, but it was entertaining and the ending was well worth the wait.

The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave listeners shaking their heads in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

Written in Steel
Revisado: 06-13-22
This was the perfect end. Although all hope was lost, the way was found and I loved it. For me, the Hero of Ages (the prophecy) was very easy to predict, it didn’t impact my enjoyment of the ending at all. Brandon Sanderson pulled out an all time ending, perhaps the greatest ending to a book series there has ever been.
The story does follow our heroes as they try to save the ending world and the killer mist. I think the middle of the book is the most difficult part to get through, but the final 40% will likely have you screaming until the very end. It was a masterful second half.
You invest so much in a story and it’s characters for moments like what you see in this ending.
If it’s not written in steel, it cannot be trusted.

The impossible has been accomplished. The Lord Ruler - the man who claimed to be god incarnate and brutally ruled the world for a thousand years - has been vanquished. But Kelsier, the hero who masterminded that triumph, is dead too, and now the awesome task of building a new world has been left to his young protégé, Vin, the former street urchin who is now the most powerful Mistborn in the land, and to the idealistic young nobleman she loves.

The Battle of All Battles
Revisado: 06-13-22
I’m in the minority but I like this book more than the first! I think this story balances elite techniques in plot development, foreshadowing and twist. It has all the elements that make for an intriguing tale.
Many hate politics, I LOVE it in the stories I read and watching each party try their best to convince supporters is great. I loved the new roles everyone plays and the places they go.
AND THE ENDING… it has one of the greatest battles to ever be written. My whole heart poured out when it was finished.
My critique of the story would be that there does become some power scaling issues. It’s not egregious but it is there.
Overall, every ending part has a huge moment that shifts the story and I think it’s just one of the best stories out there.

For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

The Best of the Best
Revisado: 06-13-22
This is top notch storytelling. The team aspect of the story is there, but even more so, the magic is the best I’ve ever read. Everything makes so much sense and all the cause and effects, the push and pull, is vivid.
I am impressed by the story taking a life of its own and the ENDING is like nothing I could have ever predicted. It’s cool to watch the epigraphs lead into this bigger reveal and paying attention to the details actually pays off in the end.
This series starts off so strong and leaves you with so much to desire and discover.

Warbreaker is the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses, the god king one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn’t like his job, and the immortal who’s still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago. Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren’s capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can only be collected one unit at a time from individual people.

A Story Worth the Wait
Revisado: 06-13-22
This story is well worth the read. On one hand, Sanderson does a great job at making you invest in the lives of the characters you follow. I will say I listened to the audiobook so my experience may have been different, but I enjoyed each of the main characters. I think the strength of this book is the prose. The color magic system lends itself to vivid description and the author does well at putting you in the world.
The area I found the most trouble with was the ending. One of the major twist was fairly easy to spot once you connect two clear points. I will say, I wish there was just a bit more hinted at for some of the other plot points before we hit the very end of the book. There are some great revelations that come out and overall, I have a hard time being mad with the end product.
This is one of those stories that will grab you and make you feel something. There was one sequence in particular that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to shake and it was so well done.
