Historia
The Battle of Serenity Valley was the turning point that led the Independents to their defeat at the hands of the Alliance. Yet the Browncoats had held the valley for weeks against all odds, before being ordered to lay down their arms. Command stated they refused to send in airpower because the ground war was "too hot". But the soldiers who were there insist that was not true.... While picking up a new cargo on Persephone, Captain Malcolm Reynolds is kidnapped by a bunch of embittered veteran Browncoats who suspect him of sabotaging the Independents during the war.

Recommended for Firefly fans
Revisado: 01-30-20
I enjoyed this book a lot. It’s not the best book I’ve listened to, but as a Firefly fan this really got me back to the Verse.
I liked that it provided more backstory for Mal. I also liked that it gave more context to Book’s past and briefly tied into the The Shepherd‘s Tale comic run. The chapters from Book’s perspective were my favorite.
My main complaint is that they almost went too over the top in references to the TV series. They used familiar quotes, conversations, and ideas which was nice. But after halfway through the book, I was ready for them to be done.
Overall, I recommend this to any Firefly fan.

Historia
To ex-detective John Barnes, the machine is a dangerous and abhorrent addiction. The criminal thoughts it embedded in his brain helped him stop a serial killer, but they left him dazed - with pounding, murderous impulses. Having turned in his badge to salvage what’s left of his psyche, Barnes must return to the darkness at the request of his former partner. A little girl has gone missing. So has Adrian Flaherty, the detective in the kidnapper’s shadow. And only Barnes can hear the clues. But the trail is more dizzying and more personal than he feared.

Better than the first

I enjoyed Machine City a lot more than Punishment. Though I feel like you have to read Punishment first or you will be missing a lot of information.
The story was interesting and kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Very entertaining and educational, but beware of foul language
Revisado: 12-23-18
I really enjoyed listening to this. There are so many great reviews out there; I don’t have much to add.
The only negative is that there was a lot of foul language used throughout the book. Way more than I expected.

Enjoyable story with a great performance by Marc Thompson
Revisado: 08-06-18
I thought the story was enjoyable. Thrawn’s character was very interesting. At first I wasn’t excited that Pryce was a main character because I didn’t like her character from the Rebels TV show. But now that I’ve finished this book, I understand and appreciate her character a lot more.
Marc Thompson’s performance was flawless.
