Historia
Poet and podcaster Jarod K. Anderson (creator of The CryptoNaturalist podcast and author of Field Guide to the Haunted Forest) celebrates the natural world with warmth and humor. The poetry and prose in this collection are love letters to impermanence, to our kinship with nature, to our strange ability to conjure meaning. Vivid and approachable, the work gathered here invites listeners to rediscover commonplace wonders and find new beauty in topics ranging from moss to mortality.

Absolutely enjoyable

I listen to this over and over while illustrating birds and dinosaurs and other nature for my work. It is thoroughly enjoyable and great to re-listen to.

Historia
We humans are the inheritors of a dynasty that has reigned over the planet for nearly 66 million years, through fiery cataclysm and ice ages: the mammals. Our lineage includes saber-toothed tigers, woolly mammoths, armadillos the size of a car, cave bears three times the weight of a grizzly, clever scurriers that outlasted Tyrannosaurus rex, and even other types of humans, like Neanderthals.

I listened to this after Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs and wasn't sure if i'd like it as much but its a fascinating take on mammals and evolution. Will probably re-listen to it.

Informative
Revisado: 07-26-22
Loved the dive into the evolution of numerous dinosaurs, learning of the origin of birds, and Brusatte's take on the end of the Cretaceous. I'd recommend this to anyone curious about these things. I chose 5 stars all 'round because the narration was impeccable, the story kept me coming back for more, and overall I just really enjoyed the book.

Historia
Most children go through a dinosaur phase. Learning all the tongue-twisting names, picking favourites based on ferocity, armour, or sheer size. For many kids this love of ‘terrible lizards’ fizzles out at some point between starting and leaving primary school. All those fancy names slowly forgotten, no longer any need for a favourite. For all those child dino fanatics who didn’t grow up to become paleontologists, dinosaurs seem like something out of mythology. They are dragons, pictures in books, abstract, other, extinct.

Great!
Revisado: 08-06-19
Loved the interview-style story telling. Appreciated that they covered the male-dominance of the paleontology field and highlighted some super smart women scientists. I’d recommend this book to pretty much anyone who is curious about more-than-human life, especially people who like birds. I mean, dinosaurs. Hehe
