Historia
It was a summer of love and a summer of secrets. She has built a good life: a husband who adores her, a daughter she is fiercely proud of, a home with warmth and love at its heart. But things were not always so good, and the truth is that she has done things she can never admit.

Family love and loss
Revisado: 09-26-21
This story is so relatable to someone who lost both parents at an early age. The feeling of being so totally alone and unprotected. The time when you need advice and you think of asking your mother only to be hit again with the reality that she is gone, and you will never be able to talk to her again. And finally making the decision in my case to raise a much younger sister no matter what the consequences. You newly out of college in your naivety feel that your love will be enough to keep the family together.

Historia
When Sandra Leigh was seven years old, she fell into the role of protector of her mother and three younger siblings. One winter night, she ushered her mother out of the house during one of her father’s tirades, and then snuck her back into the dark home through a window. Sandra was used to events like these; what she wasn’t used to were the mountains and nature surrounding her new home in West Virginia.

Good story. It could have been better.
Revisado: 09-24-21
This book would have been better if it had been broken into two books. As it is, it’s too long. The time between the opening story, and the time when Sandra makes her discovery while it provides an understanding of what happened at the beginning of the book it leaves more questions unanswered. The return to California and the subsequent discoveries would have been a good time for the start of the second book. This would have allowed more time for character development and attention to detail in each book.

Loved this story as a child. Love the book more.
Revisado: 06-14-21
When I was a child I watched and loved The Ghost and Mrs Muir tv shows, and I remember my mother telling about the book and how much better that story was. Many years have passed since that time, and now I am retired and alone. The book found me, and I am so thankful to my mother for recommending the book to me those many years ago.

Historia
Mackenzie Allen Phillips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, in this midst of his great sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack one wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change his life forever.

Who is God?
Revisado: 08-29-20
God is LOVE as we were taught as children. He/she represents no single religion, but all religions and no religions. God Loves the atheist as much as he does the devoutly religious. We are all his children though some may turn away or question. May God's Grace bring that knowledge and Love to the people of the world while there still is time.

Historia
Lina Meisel, a retired librarian in Florida, is reading the newspaper one morning when she freezes. Her eyes lock on a photograph of a book she hasn’t seen in 65 years - a book she recognizes as The Book of Lost Names. The accompanying article discusses the looting of libraries by the Nazis across Europe during World War II - an experience Lina remembers well - and the search to reunite people with the texts stolen from them so long ago. The book in the photograph is one of the most fascinating cases.

A Very Important Part of World War II History
Revisado: 07-26-20
Too often wars are only remembered for their battles, and their heroes are glorified. Hitler and the Nazis taught us lessons that should never be forgotten. The Nazis attempted to wipe out the entire Jewish race. In the end 7 million were killed by them. Men, women, children, and babies in their mothers' arms. I am so glad that this author has written this book about the work of the resistance to move Jewish children to Switzerland, and to safety. Their dedication and faith often made them victims of the Nazis too.

Another view of Nature vs Nurture
Revisado: 08-24-19
Very well written from the view of the children. In a time when some women were being sterilized because Eugenics judged they would not produce babies who were intelligent enough. It was felt their children would just be a financial drain on society. And here we have a very good story based on Georgia Tan’s history of stealing babies and young children from the poor, from those who wouldn’t suspect the evil that had taken place.
