Historia
I am a nature writer and novelist, and I’m lucky enough to be able to walk out of my cottage straight into Suffolk’s beautiful open countryside. For six months – as spring 2020 broke over the British Isles, and summer turned to autumn – I documented the wonder and richness of the natural world and the changing seasons and brought the outdoors into as many locked-down homes as I could.

In the summer of 1358 the physician Matthew Bartholomew returns to Cambridge to learn that his beloved sister is in mourning after the unexpected death of her husband, Oswald Stanmore. Aware that his son has no interest in the cloth trade that made his fortune and reputation, Oswald has left the business to his widow, but a spate of burglaries in the town distracts Matthew from supporting Edith in her grief and attempting to keep the peace between her and her wayward son.

Why has the narrated changed his characters
Revisado: 06-16-19
It took awhile to get used to the narrator, and now he’s changed his characters voices so it’s back to being dreadful. Returning the audio and going back to print.

Historia
February 1355: Oxford explodes in one of the most serious riots of its history. Fearing for their lives, the scholars flee, and some choose the University at Cambridge as their temporary refuge. But they don't remain safe for long. Within hours of their arrival, the first of their number dies, followed quickly by a second. When Matthew Bartholomew begins to investigate the deaths, he uncovers evidence that the Oxford riot was not a case of random violence, but part of a carefully orchestrated plot.

Absolutely awful attempt to dramatize the story. Bring back Thorpe. Will be returning this one.

Historia
When an intricate old map is found stuffed into the walls of the bistro in Three Pines, it at first seems no more than a curiosity. But the closer the villagers look, the stranger it becomes. Given to Armand Gamache as a gift the first day of his new job, the map eventually leads him to shattering secrets. To an old friend and older adversary. It leads the former Chief of Homicide for the Sûreté du Québec to places even he is afraid to go. But must. And there he finds four young cadets in the Sûreté academy, and a dead professor. And, with the body, a copy of the old, odd map.

Poor narration
Revisado: 08-12-17
Would you try another book from Louise Penny and/or Robert Bathurst?
Penny yes. Bathurst no
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Fair
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Robert Bathurst?
Someone who can narrate and tell the story, not poorly read the book. Very poor choice to succeed Coshum. Absolutely terrible.
Any additional comments?
I have tried to listen and give this narrator a chance but he is awful for the entire book.

Terrible narration
Revisado: 03-12-17
What disappointed you about Night Train to Memphis?
Love the story, all E. Peters/Vicky Bliss. HATE this narrator
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Terrible narration. Poor pronunciation, more imitation of "accents".
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Only the book, not the narration
Any additional comments?
I did not realize this was the narrator paired with the purchase of the book. I will return this and get the Barbara Rosenblatt. Urge everyone who enjoys a well narrated audio book to do the same.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The first in the series had an excellent narrator, the second book was just okay in the narration. This narrator was awful.
