Such a soothing voice

I really enjoyed this audio book. I understood everything the narrator said and found it to be effortless, engaging and interesting. An added bonus is the wonderfully soothing sound of the narrator's voice!

Cute

Great voice actors. Plot was a little too transparent. The breakup between Monroe and Juliet was a paragraph and abrupt, felt forced...like it was thrown there for the necessary turning point in the story. The stakes just weren't high enough, and the storyline fell a little flat...which made the overabundance of smut the only real spice in the story. It was "ok". Loved the reparation of the father-son relationship between Monroe and his father...it was a tear jerker.

Good, but not Jimenez or Henry good

I enjoyed this book to the point that I was able to get through it. They are parts that are a little annoying. Like at the beginning of the book, when the main character is text messaging with the LMC (lead male character) for literally the first 26 to 30 minutes about mundane things that really don't drive the plot at all. Each text had a chirping/beep that was added and soooo annoying. I did get invested, but there were so many parts that left me wanting for more originality and creativity.

Necessary read

This is an excellent book. Poignant story of a young boy and their experience at a concentration camp at Auschwitz in graphic, shocking and heartbreaking details that allow you to be immediately be pulled into the horrors of war. Genocide of the Jews is something we all need to learn about so that such evil doesn't grow again and sprout powerfully through our silent neglect of learning and sharing history. This book will haunt you with it's vivid language and relatable human connections that are severed abruptly by displacement and murder. I felt like I was there. I cried, I panicked, I was terrified...and at the end of the story I knew this is a book I will also purchase in hardcover to one day share with my children when they are teens. It's read by George Guidall, whose voice is so entrancing. I loved him in Steven Pressfield's War of Art, so I was happy for the familiar voice in new territory. I see why the writer won the Nobel Peace Prize.

I loved this memoir

I really enjoyed this book. I'm so upset that Cicely Tyson is no longer with us. Hearing her recount of her life made me feel so close to her and wish I would've met her before she left. I recommend this book not just to every black person in America or on this earth, but to every person so that we acknowledge our history and do not repeat the sins within it.
