totally missed the biggest marital issue.

Not sure where to begin? The author's thesis is generally that men are morons and neanderthals and women are giving and loving creatures who just want to be understood. I suppose there may be some truth to those points but it largely misses the point. Okay, so men need to be better listeners - and the author repeats that theme in different ways about a hundred times. However, how can one write a book about men and women and not talk at all about sex. Or maybe I misses that chapter? So the bottom line, that was not mentioned at all in the book, is that men need to be better listeners but women can withdraw from sex and withhold, and that creates angst and frustration amongst men, which then makes them back off and become irritable, which makes women feel resentful and unappreciated, and the cycle continues. I am astounded that the author did not even mention that cycle or how to deal with it. The sex issue is paramount and until that gets settled, the marital relationship will struggle. Any women reading this book, please recognize that this book is notably one-sided. Men need to feel appreciated, needed, that they are desirable, and that their wife wants to have sex with them. If women do that, the marriage will be in a much happier place for both of them. Men need to step up to of course, but the former issue was largely ignored by the author. standard CBT guide

the only way the reader has not heard these strategies before is if they have never read any other CBT book. It's interesting that the author claims it's more than about cognitions, then spend the next few chapters talking about cognitions. Nevertheless, it's actually a pretty good read if you're not familiar with the information.

A waste of time, don't bother. Nothing new here. Seems completely contrived, dramatized for effect and annoying in that respect. Entire book could easily have been, maybe, one chapter.

The book is informative and worth the listen. kind of superficial but some may find it helpful. if you struggle with perfectionism or know somebody who does, again it's worth taking the time.

the book is very informative about reactive attachment disorder and its characteristics and impact on the family. however rather lacking in practical strategies to improve the situation between the parent and child. hello, apparently that may not have been the purpose of the book.

tragic but excellent

sad story but a good reminder of The perils of socialism and communism. a story that needs to be emphasized especially today. this book is highly recommended especially for teenagers.
