Historia
**See author's note on adult content below.** From the dark depths of the past, comes the tale of the first wizard of Illeniel. Daniel Tennick lived simply, a young shepherd with few troubles and little to occupy his mind, until the warden appeared. Daniel's power awakens, and he finds himself hunted by the servants of the cruel and uncaring forest gods. Trapped by his gift, Daniel will uncover the secrets of the deep woods and those who live there, a civilization created from the grave of an older one.

Great Listen!!
Revisado: 04-06-15
Would you listen to The Mountains Rise again? Why?
Oh yes, I would listen again and probably will before I listen to the next in the series after it comes out. Thoroughly enjoyable, I so appreciate a writer who can bring out the required tension in a story without reverting to having the characters making ignorant choices. This is written very well.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Daniel & Katherine are favorites. Daniel, because this is his story and Kate because of her strength, courage and compassion.
What about Alex Wyndham’s performance did you like?
What a wonderful performance. It's amazing how you feel like there are multiple readers, one for each character all done by the same person.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cried multiple time in this book.
Any additional comments?
Just a great listen. The best I've had in awhile. I'm just sad that I have to wait for more.

Worth the read.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Maybe - the friend would have to be a die-hard sci-fi person.
What did you like best about this story?
Interesting story line and interesting characters
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was not awful but it wasn't great either. Separation between characters was often indistinguishable which made the story line hard to follow at times. It made it hard to identify with the characters as well. It was work to listen and stay with it. I don't really like having to work to listen.

Donaldson is dark.
Revisado: 09-13-13
Would you listen to This Day All Gods Must Die: The Gap into Ruin again? Why?
Maybe I'd listen again, but I'd need a lot of time in between. I like Donaldson, but he's dark. The guy is twisted and sadistic. Even the Covenant series shows his propensity for exposing tortured minds to the extreme. This series is even darker and more masochistic. He really puts people through the most awful things (in stark detail).
Sometimes it's just hard to listen to all the ugliness. But I do. I somehow get through the darkness so I can eventually find the redemption at the end. You start caring about these characters. Even some of the nasty ones. Donaldson's really good at that, making you care.
What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Scott Brick's narration makes this whole series bearable.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely not - not only is it too long, but I need time outs to come up for air.
