These 4 stories are infused with the wit and imagination, the humor and wisdom, that characterizes all of Isaac Bashevis Singer's work. Theodore Bikel reads these wise and funny tales in classic Yiddish storyteller cadence, injecting special warmth and resonance. The tales include "Gimpel the Fool," "Esther Kreindel the Second," "The Spinoza of Market Street," and "The Black Wedding."

Last story is nightmarish
Revisado: 06-03-24
Last story is worst than a snuff film.
The sound of a bell ringing can not be unheard. The last story is so full of abuse as to require a warning for explicit violence and degradation. The other stories do not go as far into the darkness.

Whoopi Goldberg’s humor sad stereotypes
Revisado: 05-29-24
Brutal negative over generalized stereotypes of men who copy these stereotypes and plague their communities.
These sad sacks harm not only women but other men and children with toxic copying men with these dishonorable stereotypes failing themselves and all the relationships in their lives. Rise up and have the courage to be the good person you were meant to be. Then reach out and help another man to break the cycle of living these toxic stereotypes. Be brave and be resilient it will be hard but it will be worth it. Maybe the author in the future can write a book about you.

Historia
In virtually every way that can be measured, Gen Z’s mental health is worse than that of previous generations. Youth suicide rates are climbing, antidepressant prescriptions for children are common, and the proliferation of mental health diagnoses has not helped the staggering number of kids who are lonely, lost, sad and fearful of growing up. What’s gone wrong with America’s youth? In Bad Therapy, bestselling investigative journalist Abigail Shrier argues that the problem isn’t the kids—it’s the mental health experts.

School staff convince normal kids they are not OK
Revisado: 03-29-24
Abigail Shrier has validated my experience with school staff who don’t even like children making mental health diagnosis for normal students, Parents are told the kid can’t return to school without a note for a fidget toy from a doctor. Any normal person facing an unchallenging lecture and material is likely to be in need of better academic environment. No concern for the long term health of the child by some of the staff who just seem to want a medicated bored motionless classroom to make the teaching staff happy.
Abigail Shrier steps back and calls it like she sees it. Her sharp insights and good research exposes a dirty secret. Labeling kids with mental health needs and shouting suicide risks is a way to obtain a large amount of grant money. Normal adolescents have a lot of issues to sort through as did their forebears. They can handle it, when their families and friends believe in them and provide support and strength.
For five years I volunteered on a Crisis Line and talked many people through every sort of mess that New Orleans could hit them with including those who had stopped taking their meds. What worked was being there for them to be really heard and treated with the basic respect everyone deserves. They often went off the meds to feel human again and they knew it was risky, but connections with a real person who was fully present was what was important to these callers. They taught me a lot. I am grateful. Hopefully, Mrs. Shrier’s excellent book will inspire its readers to stand up and help our schools get back on track and stop pretending to deliver medical mental health care by non doctors or nurse practitioners to normal teens. School staff owe a public fiduciary duty of a safe quality academic education to all students. Thank you for an excellent inspirational book.

Historia
Elliot Richardson thought he’d lost everything. He’d come home from deployment to find his wife cheating on him, his sons strangers and his life in tatters. Driving away, unsure where he was going, he fell through an interdimensional rift and found himself in a very different world, a city of magic and mystery and dangers beyond his comprehension, a land spinning out of control. Innovations from the distant west unsettle the monarchy and challenge the position of the aristocrats and warlords who hold the kingdom in their grasp.

Stranger in a strange magical land
Revisado: 09-03-23
At long last, army war veteran from Iraq incursion falls through dimensional rift to follow Emily into magical planet experiencing revolutionary industrial changes from earth time line idea pollination. City states and merchant class clash as old class structure refuses to adapt. Elliot is similar to Captain John Paul Jones becoming Admiral for the Russian Empire. Characters are interesting but need to be deeper along lines of Jane Austin. It is a platform to explore issues like was done by the first Star Trek series which was supported by Lucille Ball who gave Gene Roddenberry a tool to give people a way to believe in their own hope for a better future. Hopefully Stuck in Magic is the start of a rich new series evolving beyond its School of Magic series coming of age prequel. I like that he avoided the tired PTSD trope as it would be unrealistic in light of the constant need for Elliot to adapt or perish.

Revisado: 01-30-23
Intelligent sweet talking hypothesis that tries too hard to appear totally confident in its conclusions. There is little research supporting many conclusions and not enough balance in owning up to the stacking of arguments. Sad I was hoping for deeper research. I have to ask the professor to disclose all nonprofit funding for himself and the cited studies for philanthropic agenda of social conditioning is painfully presented as fact and any prior research discarded without a thought for re-examining the data sets. The new group think is still group think. Please do a better job on the revised edition and don’t rush to publish for the viral cashing in on the new trend. Your readers deserve your best work. Stand up them please.

Historia
In Race to the Bottom, Luke Rosiak uncovers the shocking reason why American education is failing: Powerful special interest groups are using our kids as guinea pigs in vast ideological experiments. These groups’ initiatives aren’t focused on making children smarter—but on implementing a radical agenda, no matter the effect on academic standards.

Non-parents corruption of school system
Revisado: 01-10-23
Only parents should be eligible for school board positions. All school employees need to be held by law to the highest duty of loyalty to parents of students- the fiduciary standard needs to be new state law that parents can recover damages from school management and employees who have conflicts of interest that diminish each and any student’s growth in learning increasing each year. That is the job. All schools should be barred from accepting outside funding or gifts particularly from foundations. Bribery in any form that pushes a non-academic curriculum teaching should be prosecuted. Law firms donating free lesson plans for teachers is a fraud on the donors of the SPLC donor base. The donors gave money for litigation not twisting young minds with phony lesson plans. Students need to be free of groups alienating them from their family.

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Injustice for Alaska juries to not have Native people
Revisado: 11-27-19
Tragic life story of hidden pitfalls and unexpected consequences of dominant culture on young people in rural Alaska. Teddy Smith desired acceptance and belonging. Alcohol bans well intended created opposite impact in making drinking a path to rebel against adults. We failed Teddy as we abandoned him when he fell from the path of success and left him discarded on the roadside of colonial culture. He tried to fit into the mainstream and could not ignore his roots and connection to the land. Sad. In March 2019 the appeals court held the judge erred in not having a hearing on excluding from the jury people residing more than five miles from the court. Hope the judge grants a new trial and lets his peers decide his fate. I doubt a non-Native would have received a 99 year sentence. In the lower 48, such a sentence rarely results in more than seven years before being granted release.
