Read the book for the first part
Revisado: 07-07-23
The narrator for part 1 is AWFUL. Her voice trivializes the seriousness of what she is relating. I wish all of the book had been narrated by Will Patton, who is one of my favorite performers. I'd listen to him read his grocery list!

Not a single sympathetic character
Revisado: 11-07-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A completely new plot. The premise was interesting, but each of the characters was selfish, and unlikeable.
Would you ever listen to anything by B. A. Paris again?
I doubt it.
Have you listened to any of Georgia Maguire’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I had no problem with the narrator at all.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Distaste.

Historia
A masterful, intensely suspenseful novel about a reader whose obsession with a reclusive writer goes far too far - a book about the power of storytelling, starring the same trio of unlikely and winning heroes King introduced in Mr. Mercedes. "Wake up, genius." So begins King's instantly riveting story about a vengeful reader. The genius is John Rothstein, an iconic author who created a famous character, Jimmy Gold, but who hasn't published a book for decades.

A great second part
Revisado: 06-25-15
Would you listen to Finders Keepers again? Why?
Yes - I love Stephen King's writing, the characters in this series, and Will Patton's narration.
What other book might you compare Finders Keepers to and why?
This was a great addition to the story started in Mr. Mercedes. It reminded me of "Joyland".
What about Will Patton’s performance did you like?
All of it. Every single syllable.
If you could rename Finders Keepers, what would you call it?
I Once Was Lost; or Amazing Grace

I didn't even finish
Revisado: 06-25-15
What would have made The Forgotten Room better?
A much better plot -- this story was so predictable that I was in danger of falling asleep. And I was driving.
What was most disappointing about Lincoln Child’s story?
The plot was quite simplistic; the writing was as well. I wish I could count the number of times the word "gazed" was used, or "countenance".
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narrator was okay, and I'm not sure if I disliked his performance because of the content. His dramaticism made the shortcomings of the book more apparent.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointed in the purchase.

I liked hearing the story from the perspective of various passengers and crew, in their individual voices.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Watch That Ends the Night?
The cacophony of voices from passengers who went down with the ship. Heart-wrenching.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux novels began with this first hard-hitting entry in the series. In The Neon Rain, Detective Robicheaux fishes a prostitute's corpse from a New Orleans bayou and finds that no one, not even the law, cares about a dead hooker.

Addicted to Will Patton and James Lee Burke
Revisado: 10-09-12
Would you listen to The Neon Rain again? Why?
Yes - a perfection combination of story and storyteller. I wish all of Mr. Burke's books were available as read by Mr. Patton.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I can't get enough of Det. Robichaux and his side-kick, Clete Purcell. Truth be told, I'm a little in love with both of them!
Which scene was your favorite?
Mr. Burke's descriptions of New Orleans and surroundings is magical. So magical, in fact, that my sister and I have booked a vacation there this December. You will find me sipping coffee and eating beignets at Cafe du Monde, waiting for Dave and Clete.
