Historia
Fly fishing, historian Mark Kurlansky has found, is a battle of wits, fly fisher vs. fish - and the fly fisher does not always (or often) win. The targets - salmon, trout and char; and for some, bass, tarpon, tuna, bonefish and even marlin - are highly intelligent, wily, strong and athletic animals. The allure, Kurlansky learns, is that fly fishing makes catching a fish as difficult as possible. There is an art, too, in the crafting of flies.

Unabridged, truly unedited.

While the content itself was exactly what I expected and continued listening for, the work is rather a hodgepodge of interesting tidbits. That would be fine if not for the poor recording quality that was clearly left uncut. The mistakes were left in so I found myself wondering, did I hear that twice? Was that written twice? Some of the mistakes were actually quite amusing particularly nearing the end. There was even some fun personal commentary left in. My favorite mistake was after several attempts to pronounce a notoriously difficult body of water in Maine leading to a comment about their drunkenness. All in all, if you have some credits to burn and aren't too concerned about your takeaway this recording is just fine. I wouldn't advise purchasing it outside of the constraint of five available credits in audible. Don't pay extra, but if it's free give it a listen!

Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

would like to continue the story, but the audio stopped working after chapter 4 and even returning to earlier chapters no longer works.

Historia
Does nature really make us feel better? The 3-Day Effect takes a look at the science behind why being in the wild can make us happier, healthier, and more creative. Whether it’s rafting down Utah’s Green River, hiking in Utah’s wilderness, or walking through Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC, scientists are finding that the more exposure humans have to nature, the more we can benefit from reduced anxiety, enhanced creativity, and overall well-being.

NPR segment
Revisado: 07-03-19
Not worth the listen. Could not pass the first 20 min without questioning the download. Audio quality is nice, but mostly like an NPR segment or a podcast. I love the outdoors, thru hiked the Appalachian trail, but my wife kept me from wasting time on the whole thing. Unplug, slow down, got it.
