Historia
Bill Gates shares what he's learned in more than a decade of studying climate change and investing in innovations to address the problems, and sets out a vision for how the world can build the tools it needs to get to zero greenhouse gas emissions. Bill Gates explains why he cares so deeply about climate change and what makes him optimistic that the world can avoid the most dire effects of the climate crisis. Gates says, "We can work on a local, national, and global level to build the technologies, businesses, and industries to avoid the worst impacts of climate change."

"True belonging doesn't require us to change who we are. It requires us to be who we are." Social scientist Brené Brown, PhD, LMSW, has sparked a global conversation about the experiences that bring meaning to our lives - experiences of courage, vulnerability, love, belonging, shame, and empathy. In Braving the Wilderness, Brown redefines what it means to truly belong in an age of increased polarization.

Good, but not a must read.
Revisado: 11-29-20
One of Brene's books changed my life intensely. a 100% change of my life, me, my identity and stance in life. This book, while good. Is not a "must read", and since we have to choose where we spend our time. I suggest to only read this if you really live her work. other wise skip and find a recap.

Historia
Through decades of martial arts and meditation practice, Peter Ralston discovered a curious and paradoxical fact: that true awareness arises from a state of not knowing. Even the most sincere investigation of self and spirit, he says, is often sabotaged by our tendency to grab too quickly for answers and ideas as we retreat to the safety of the known.

Great, will read again.
Revisado: 11-06-18
A difficult subject for sure. But also a great attempt by the auther to explain it through words. I would recommend this book to those who have already made some baby stepts into the subject.
Thank you Peter!

Clear and good insights. Recommended.
Revisado: 06-22-18
Great content. However it leans towards codependency around alcoholism (which doesn't mean it can be applied in other situations). Still great insights. But a more generic approach was expected by the title.

Historia
For decades we have been taught that fat is bad for us, carbohydrates better, and that the key to a healthy weight is eating less and exercising more. Yet despite this advice, we have seen unprecedented epidemics of obesity and diabetes. Taubes argues that the problem lies in refined carbohydrates, like white flour, easily digested starches, and sugars, and that the key to good health is the kind of calories we take in, not the number.

Too much science
Revisado: 02-22-18
I could not bring myself to finish the book.
Too much science talk and why the science and marketing behind the food industry make mistakes. For some this is good and solid information. But if you are looking for more of a summary on what to eat and why, then look else where. Read this if your looking for solid information about what the food industries say, why, and why it might be false.
