Historia
"Call me Ishmael." Thus starts the greatest American novel. Melville said himself that he wanted to write "a mighty book about a mighty theme" and so he did. It is a story of one man's obsessive revenge-journey against the white whale, Moby-Dick, who injured him in an earlier meeting. Woven into the story of the last journey of The Pequod is a mesh of philosophy, rumination, religion, history, and a mass of information about whaling through the ages.

A Classic
Revisado: 05-05-25
The story is gripping, a slow start that builds to a chilling climax. In the end the many rabbit holes and explanations all make sense and the pay off is fantastic.
The Performance is perfect, none could do it better!

Historia
On a beautiful summer afternoon in 1998, Dan Stephens, a 22-year-old canoeist, was leading a trip deep into Ontario's Quetico Provincial Park. He stepped into a gap among cedar trees to look for the next portage - and did not return. More than four hours later, Dan awakened from a fall with a lump on his head and stumbled deeper into the woods, confused. Three years later, Jason Rasmussen, a third-year medical student who loved the forest's solitude, walked alone into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness on a crisp fall day.

Very well written and instructive
Revisado: 04-13-24
This is a gripping true story, it lets you feel as if you walk every step with the unfortunate members of the story. It demonstrates perfectly how each mistake orbit of bad luck landed them in the situations that they then had to deal with. every triumph orbit of good luck felt real and personal. as an Alaskan who spends a lot of time in the woods this story got to me on a more personal level than I expected. I very highly recommend it to any perspective readers. the narrator has a very pleasant voice and did a fantastic job

Good writing but shallow
Revisado: 03-20-24
The day to day activities and conversations were very well done, the breakfast scene and views of the country side we're all exceptional. Unfortunately the main love interest Guy is flat and boring with no personallity other than hulk like barbarian or grovelling fool. A more well fleshed out character would have been nice and holy crap the grovelling gets to cringy. Still, the things that the book did well were done very well. The main character is a little selfish though and sometimes it makes her unlikable and mean spirited. The whole book could be fixed if people just talked to each other

Historia
The First Interstellar War is over, but the Royal Navy still has plenty of work to do. As Earth struggles to recover from the bombardment, Captain John Naiser is placed in command of HMS Warspite - an experimental heavy cruiser - and ordered to escort a squadron of colony ships to a star system of immense strategic importance. But as the crew struggle to survive hundreds of light years from Earth, they find themselves dealing with the legacy of the war.

Well written and interesting
Revisado: 07-19-23
A well written next step in the Ark Royal series, interesting characters and a fun ride. My only critique is that it feels a little bit like a let down after the high stakes and large scale wars of the first three books. It does act as a fantastic step into the next larger series though

Historia
In this revealing compendium, acclaimed writer Diana Gabaldon shares her invaluable lessons for creating an immersive reading experience, from evoking a mood to using the power of emotions to communicate physical intimacy. You'll learn the difference between gratuitous sex and genuine encounters that move the story forward and how to handle less-than-savory acts that nevertheless serve a narrative purpose. Gabaldon also notes that sex can be conveyed instead of described.

Boring
Revisado: 07-14-23
Self Aggrandizing and bloated, the information in this book would fit in a pamphlet. In my opinion, the author replied on star power to sell this book and slacked off while writing.

Historia
Written by G. K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy addresses foremost one main problem: How can we contrive to be at once astonished at the world and yet at home in it? Chesterton writes, "I wish to set forth my faith as particularly answering this double spiritual need, the need for that mixture of the familiar and the unfamiliar which Christendom has rightly named romance."

Enlightening and Entertaining
Revisado: 07-03-23
GK Chesterton does not disappoint, I went into this book expecting an interesting but dry book of apologetics. Interesting it was but no one could call it dry, from laughing at the analogies in the first chapter two smiling at the clever explanations in the rest of the chapters this book is an easy read that is deceptively deep. The narrator speaks very clearly and has a warm pleasant voice, it was a pleasure to listen to.

The predominant image of this first world war is of mud and trenches, barbed wire, machine guns, poison gas, and slaughter. A generation of European manhood was massacred, and a wound was inflicted on European civilization that required the remainder of the twentieth century to heal.

Once I started listening I couldn't put it down, a very well detailed historical account written and easy to understand terms. well researched and fascinating. my only critique is the author notably understates and downplays contributions made by the United States. but correctly points out the heavy lifting was done by the British Navy

Even Better than the first book
Revisado: 05-19-23
This book does everything the first book does and expands upon it excellently. The writing is cleaner and you really get to know and love the characters.
The Magic system is fascinating and while mysterious, seems to be well thought out and to have good limitations and logic.
The narrator is amazing, as he always is.

Excellent Sci-Fi
Revisado: 05-14-22
Excellent-SciFi. Mr. Nuttal's talent only improves with practice. Only issue is with the relatively uninteresting personal lives of the pilots who we spend, in my opinion, far too much time with. Still, the over all story makes it worth it.
