I selected this offering because I wanted to immerse myself into listening to someone speaking French. I got all of that and more. I discovered that the background nature noises that were recorded combined with the melody of the French language made for a very meditative listen. No need to understand what is being said, although I hope that comprehension will come with time and repeated exposure. Even if comprehension eludes me, I value this recording for the calming, peaceful effect it can have on the listener. I highly recommend that you give it a chance.

I have read this book several times as hard copy and always enjoyed it. This audible version is wonderful to listen to, akin to radio broadcasts of yore. Those of you who are old enough to remember will understand what I mean. Having stories read to me was always a good experience and still is. This audible book goes beyond one person reading the story to you and presents the story theatrically by many actors. Very well done.

Marvelously entertaining. What an imagination Orson has! This is one of the author's earliest works which he rewrote portions of when given the opportunity. Seems to me that he did a good job. I doubt that many people would be disappointed if they give this book a chance.

Riveting story; I look forward to book 2. Japanese culture from that time frame comes alive in the reading. Narrator's performance is good; since I am new to Audible, I have little experience yet for comparison.
