Wonderful listen! Cooper has written an absorbing book that paints an accurate picture of early Dutch NY, and then Gilded Age NY. Lots of fascinating minutiae... delightful gossipy stuff as well as tragedies that befell his kin. Really- a fun listen from beginning to end (& he even pronounces "clapboard" right- what a guy!)

I love Mo Rocca. From beginning to end, this book entertained and educated. Great fun, & delightfully well-researched. I thoroughly enjoyed being in Mo's gentle & intelligent company whilst listening....

Candice Bergen is funny, self-deprecating, & smart. A Fine Romance is like listening to friend tell an especially truthful version of their life story . Ms. Bergen's take on her own and humankind's foibles makes for fascinating, sometimes hilarious reading.

An admirably factual biography that avoids speculation and editorializing. The narration is perhaps a bit flat, but without irritating quirks.

Who knew? Turns out Anjelica Huston runs deep- she's a more-than-able writer, and seems to be an excellent human being to boot. Kind, thoughtful, & measured, this memoir held me rapt. Beautiful evocations of natural landscapes (especially Ireland) run throughout. Huston also details the gentler side of her dad convincingly. And what a life she's had! Such a wide array of lovers, homes, roles- all experienced in very posh circumstances. Great read.

Interesting Hollywood gossip, lousy narration.

A fun, largely light-weight read for lovers of 1960s Hollywood lore. Loads of sex & drug experiences described by the delightfully uninhibited author, who must have been a real man-killer. The narration leaves something to be desired- occasional mispronunciations & an insistence on a comical imitation of the male voice achieved by speaking in a low-register.

I very much enjoyed this read- and was pleasantly surprised by Ms. Brown's warmth, intelligence, and foibles. I found her take on the years she reigned at Vanity Fair to be delightfully gossipy- though never cruel. Her whip-smart observations on life, work, and colleagues are based in real decency, and an awareness of her own human-ness.
