Historia
Evan Smoak is a highly trained former government assassin who has survived for years by keeping his circle to a few trusted confidants and a strict code he calls “The Ten Commandments.” But when Evan suddenly finds himself at odds with his oldest friend, all the rules he lives by shatter—and the consequences are murderous. Tommy Stojack might be Evan's best friend in the world. He’s a gifted gunsmith who has created much of Evan's own weapons and combat gear. But now, he has apparently crossed one of Evan's hardest lines and their argument explodes into open warfare.

A beautifully told story, over nearly 100 years, of the trials and tribulations of a family the likes of which built this country and made it great, brilliantly read by George Guidall. No more needs to be said. If you listen to (or read) it, you will never forget it.

Historia
Something sinister is going on in Baronville. The rust belt town has seen four bizarre murders in the space of two weeks. Cryptic clues left at the scenes - obscure Bible verses, odd symbols - have the police stumped. Amos Decker and his FBI colleague Alex Jamison are in Baronville visiting Alex's sister and her family. It's a bleak place: a former mill and mining town with a crumbling economy and rampant opioid addiction. Decker has been there only a few hours when he stumbles on a horrific double murder scene.

Revisado: 05-13-18
The story is long, dull, and ridiculous. I finished it only because I couldn’t believe it. This is one of the very worst books I have ever listened to. PLEASE tell me David Baldacci did not write it. If he did, he’s losing his touch.

On Detective Matt Jones's first night working Homicide in LA, he's called to investigate a particularly violent murder case: a man has been gunned down in a parking lot off Hollywood Boulevard, his bullet-riddled body immediately pegged as the work of a serial robber who has been haunting the Strip for months.

Too much "talk". Silly characters
Revisado: 05-27-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I bailed half way through. The story, although a pretty good plot, had too much yack, yack and useless description. It just kind on went on and on... slowly.
Would you ever listen to anything by Robert Ellis again?
Maybe.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I'm not sure. I don't think even George Guidall or Dick Hill could have made this work..
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No.
Any additional comments?
I try real hard to like books, even mediocre books like this one, but I just couldn't do it. Sorry.

When tragedy strikes during one terrible night of violence, Jacob flees and joins rebel forces working to undermine the regime. But after a raid goes horribly wrong, Jacob finds himself in a living nightmare - trapped in a crowded, stinking car on the train to the Auschwitz death camp.

Excellent, although disturbing read
Revisado: 12-26-14
What did you love best about The Auschwitz Escape?
The story was fascinating and very disturbing to me. The horrors of Auschwitz and the things that went on, even though, believe it or not, somewhat toned down in the book, were heart wrenching.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
This is a page turner!
What about Christopher Lane’s performance did you like?
Christopher Lane did an excellent job. A good story, well told by Mr. Lane.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It is too long a book to listen to in one sitting, but if I could have, I would have,
Any additional comments?
Anyone who has any doubts about what happened to the Jews in Nazi Germany should really listen to this book.

Historia
The world is on the brink of disaster. Iran has just conducted its first atomic weapons test. Millions of Muslims around the world are convinced their messiah — known as the Twelfth Imam — has arrived on earth. Israeli leaders fear Tehran, under the Twelfth Imam’s spell, will soon launch a nuclear attack that could bring about a second Holocaust and the annihilation of Israel.

Good story, way too much Christian recruiting
Revisado: 12-26-14
What did you love best about The Tehran Initiative?
Overall a good listen and a good story line. I am a Christian, but even so, thought all of the religious dialog and "recruiting" was out of place. It would have been just as good a story without about 80 percent of it.
The characters were will defined. The story, although a little towards the impossible in some places, was well worth the listen.
What about Christopher Lane’s performance did you like?
Christopher Lane always does a good job. His reading of this book is no exception. It actually overcame many of the shortcomings of the book. He is the reason I give an Overall rating of four stars instead of three.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
There was plenty of action, but definitely, for me at least, not a "sit on the edge of the chair page turned" many books are.
Any additional comments?
I have read two other Joel Rosenberg books; "The Auschwitz Escape" and "Death on a High Floor". I liked both much better than this one, and the religious stuff was kept to a minimum.

The silliest book I ever listened to.
Revisado: 08-01-14
Would you try another book from Allen Dusk and/or Rose Caraway?
Sure. This one served as comic relief if nothing else.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The most interesting part was how completely goofy the story was.
What three words best describe Rose Caraway’s performance?
Silly, silly, silly! Not funny silly, just enjoyably ridiculously silly. A real head shaker.
Was Shady Palms worth the listening time?
Actually it was worth the time. I listen to books while I work. At the end of each day I filled my wife in on what was going on with this one; something I rarely do. I just had to tell someone. :-)
Any additional comments?
If you're a little tired of the main stream good stuff, give this one a listen. Believe me, you won't believe what you're listening, but you will probably feel the time spent was worth it. I have never listened to anything like this one in my life.

It just keeps getting more intriguing.
Revisado: 08-01-14
Where does The Last Dead Girl rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I like a book that keeps going deeper and deeper, giving the reader things to think about and be aware of. This one did it for me. A good story, a superior narrator and an always changing plot. Good characters, well developed.
What did you like best about this story?
The plot twists. I kept being sure I had things figured out until I realized I didn't.
What does Michael Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Michael Kramer is among the best of the best narrators. Just the fact that he narrated the book made it a must read for me.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Nothing extreme. A little nervous for the characters from time to time.
Any additional comments?
I listen to a LOT of books. I have listened to 30 or 40 books per year for the last 15 years. This one is not far from the top of my list. I bought the hard cover for my wife. I know she will enjoy it too.
