Historia
His passport read Giovanni Rossi. But decades ago, during the Urban Wars, he was part of a small, secret organization called The Twelve. Responding to an urgent summons from an old compatriot, he landed in New York and eased into the waiting car. And died within minutes… Lieutenant Eve Dallas finds the Rossi case frustrating. She’s got an elderly victim who’d just arrived from Rome; a widow who knows nothing about why he’d left; an as-yet unidentifiable weapon; and zero results on facial recognition.

Another Hit for J D and Dallas
Revisado: 04-19-25
I have been a fan of this series for many years and have read or listened to every single book. I also own each one in audio. I've come to know that there is no better reader than Susan Erickson - a talent unparalleled in audiobook recordings. As far as the books themselves this is another hit - the story, the depth of character information, the regular cast as they work together to solve yet another threat. I hope J D Robb never tires or loses her love of story weaving. Bravo for #60!

Least favorite in this series
Revisado: 09-27-24
First time I haven’t liked the female lead in this series. In the end of course she explains herself but it was too drawn out and it was contradictory to her outward strength. Even after she tells him why and allows him to help protect her I just never liked her.

Historia
As they do each June, the Foxes have driven the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smell of pine. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb. Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. And though the two have never discussed the special kind of sight they share, they know as soon as their tearful eyes meet that something terrible has happened.

This was a great listen! The characters are well done and their connection solid to the story. The story is engaging with a touch of supernatural - enjoyed it completely

Historia
To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life - a quaint house on an island off Seattle’s coast, a thriving dog-training school and a challenging volunteer job performing Canine Search and Rescue. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare: an encounter with the Red Scarf Killer, who shot and killed Fiona’s cop fiancé and his K-9 partner.

Disappointed in this Roberts novel
Revisado: 08-23-24
The story was ok but didn't center enough on the threat which was the whole purpose - I think. Enjoyed the dog training and the search and rescue but felt the menace got lost. I didn't truly love the male voices either (done by a female) It's an art to do a male voice if you aren't male. I was always aware a female was reading the book - and frankly have done enough of these to know there are great readers who make you forget what gender is reading it!

Historia
Dark days have come to medieval Scotland, and fierce warrior Robert the Bruce would do anything to release his country from English rule - and not just because he’s the rightful heir to the Scottish throne. As the bloody war rages on, enemies on both sides of the fight surround him, and Robert must dance a dangerous line between truth and deception. One misstep could topple his nation and cost him his life, yet one woman tempts him - and threatens his mission - as no other ever has.

Loved this book!
Revisado: 08-23-24
What I loved about this book was the 2 main characters were not particularly at odds - they were united in defeating their enemies from the beginning. The interweaving of a historical event made it all the better and Tim Campbell is the best. I could listen to him read anything as long as he did it with a Scottish brogue!

Historia
Lillianna de Burgh knows all about the legend surrounding the women in her family - that true love awakens the gift of sight within them. But given the horrific betrayals the power has brought her ancestors, she wants no part in true love or the supposed gift. Avoiding her fate seems simple enough since men have proven time and again that they wish to use her, not cherish her, even her own kin. Thankfully, when she flees England to escape her evil uncle, she finds herself in the company of a seemingly hard-hearted Highlander who thinks the legend is nothing more than a myth.

I enjoyed this one - having read book 1 was familiar with the characters. This one was bit more predictable but the narrator kept me in this one. Great job!

Unusual
Revisado: 02-22-24
The story was great. Unexpected closure to the case. I am spoiled to reading by Dick Hill. This one was read by Jonathan McClain and he did a good job as Reacher but the majority of the main characters voices were awful. The story was worth the listen. This is book 4 in the series and circumstances with Reacher are highly unusual but not particularly hard to imagine. Worth the credit

Too much
Revisado: 02-09-24
I didn't remember listening to this but had it marked as finished, so I started it again, didn't recall any of it and finished it yesterday. I have to say that while I appreciate this series as a whole and the Shadow Riders, this one was too much sex - that was all it was. The other books seem to have a good story along with all the sex but this one was nothing but. Added to that, while I loved this reader on Savage Nature, the characters in this one, especially the female, were whiney all of the time. I would have never have read the voices that way in my head had I been holding an actual book and reading it. I got to the point that I fast forwarded every time they hit the sheets because of I was so tired of it. The best part of the book was the actual confrontation at the end with the problem leopard but it was quick and then it was back to the sheets. Furthermore, it would have been nice for the ending to have included the surprise they were getting.
Not a fan of this one.
