Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Adequately narrated but the story was one dimensional.
Revisado: 04-18-24
IMHO, over sold and under delivered. I found the narration to be passionate but the story itself was weak. So good audio effort but alas, the writer needs to go back to the drawing board.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Wisdom and wonder
Revisado: 03-02-24
I found this historical fiction to be compelling in many ways but not the least of which, the words chosen by the author and their portrayal by the narrator. The story brings back memories that are not my own. I'm not American but I can appreciate struggle when I see it and I can understand loss, heartbreak, and most, of all love.

Inspiring
Revisado: 09-17-22
So, you know how they say that you do your best work when you hang with better people? This book is like those better people. When I have read or listened to these Clearwater conspiracy novels, I have been most inspired. The author's ideas, the twists and turned his stories take: all of it is inspiring.

I started listening as I set out on my morning walk, something I've done a hundred times; setting my ear buds in my ears, sniffing the air for rain, settling into my shoes, looking left and right as I exit my building. But, this morning was different ... thank you Solea.
