Historia
Ta-Nehisi Coates originally set out to write a book about writing, in the tradition of Orwell’s classic “Politics and the English Language,” but found himself grappling with deeper questions about how our stories—our reporting and imaginative narratives and mythmaking—expose and distort our realities. In the first of the book’s three intertwining essays, Coates, on his first trip to Africa, finds himself in two places at once: in Dakar, a modern city in Senegal, and in a mythic kingdom in his mind.

This books is a great read, with Coates writing to his class makes me feel like one of his students and the way he tells these stories is both heart breaking and inspiring. I really haven’t read any other book that makes me feel like I’m actually a part of the conversation. This book has opened my eyes and given me a glimpse of the world I thought I might never see.

Historia
Prilla, the newest fairy to arrive in Never Land, is so odd that Never Land itself isn't certain whether to let her into Fairy Haven. Prilla shakes hands when she meets other fairies, and she says "Pleased to meet you", instead of "Fly with you". What's more, she calls Tinker Bell Miss Bell. Altogether, she acts more like a Clumsy than a self-respecting Never fairy should.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

My heart breaks for Jeanette, she deserves so much better from those around her. I’m so happy she finally feels strong enough to tell her truth to the world and help raise awareness of parental abuse! You (Jeanette) and you’re book are AMAZING!

Best Book I've Read In A While
Revisado: 11-15-20
I really love this book and its tack on Vampires. If you want a dark romance with an actual plot look no further than this amazing book. Beth is a strong main character and Wrath is so complex. Within the first few minutes of reading, I was hooked and I'm now reading the whole series. Truly an amazing start!

Jackle and Hyde but better. I will admit I don't like Mary Luce as much as Beth, but the duel personalities and great storytelling more than make up for the small pitfalls I have with Mary.

Only read this book after the first two and prepare your heart to be broken, then lifted, then broken again. This book is great and made me go on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I only gave this book 4 stars because I'm so emotionally torn, but this book is fantastic.

Wow, I'm in love!
Revisado: 04-10-20
I got into this series when I watched the show on Hulu, but when I found out it was the perfect opportunity to have an ending to the series. What I didn't expect was that the book would be even better than the show! If you've seen the show expect similarities but get ready for a more in-depth and magical experience. The sophistication, chemistry, and magic make it impossible not to fall in love with every character! I ended up binge-listening to the book and finishing it in one day. I couldn't put the book down; it's just so good! Witches of Eastend is one of the best books I've ever read, and I can't wait to read The Serpents Kiss! I also have to mention. The narrator truly captures the awesome emotion and power of these fantastic characters.

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

The Most Wonderful Magical Series in the World
Revisado: 04-10-20
I have a reading disability, so I have trouble concentrating and keeping pace when I'm reading. This series is fantastic, and Jim Dale is one of if not the best narrator in all of existence. Listening to him read this incredible story was like actually being in the wizarding world. I recommend even if you've read the Harry Potter series to listen to these beautiful audiobooks.
