Historia
When Claire Nagy marries Forster Baumsarg, the only son of prominent California citrus ranchers, she knows she's consenting to a life of hard work, long days, and worry-fraught nights. But her love for Forster is so strong, she turns away from her literary education and embraces the life of the ranch, succumbing to its intoxicating rhythms and bounty until her love of the land becomes a part of her.

What a terrible disappointment
Revisado: 01-08-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I do not know who would enjoy this book. The story was unorganized, boring, and slow.
Has The Forgetting Tree turned you off from other books in this genre?
no
How could the performance have been better?
There needed to have been a story line. The author seemed to have just focused on random thoughts she tried to tie together through the lives of 2 characters.
What character would you cut from The Forgetting Tree?
Ha. All of them
Any additional comments?

Couldn't Wait to Drive to Work So I Could Listen!
Revisado: 05-24-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I have recommended this book to my book club because of the writing. The story involved strong resourceful women at different times in history. The connection between women and families across generations was compelling.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I just loved Bettie and Charlie. They were both such strong characters and I loved their conviction to what was right so ahead of their time.
Which character – as performed by the narrator – was your favorite?
Bettie
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Oh Yes!! I wanted to drive around and around in my car and travel back to 1935.

Historia
Rosie Ferguson is 17 and ready to enjoy the summer before her senior year of high school. She's intelligent (she aced AP physics), athletic (a former state-ranked tennis doubles champion), and beautiful. She is, in short, everything her mother, Elizabeth, hoped she could be. But as the school year draws to a close, there are disturbing signs that the life Rosie claims to be leading is a sham.

This is probably the worst book I have read
Revisado: 06-15-11
I gaveit on star because I couldn't figure out how to give it -5!!!! This is probably the worst book I have read in 20 years. The writing is shallow and the topic of contemporary teenage issues was apparently very poorly researched thus presented in the story. Seems like the writer just wanted to write for shock value. The book is a waste of time, money, and effort.

Historia
Leopold Bloom King has been raised in a family shattered - and shadowed - by tragedy. Lonely and adrift, he searches for something to sustain him and finds it among a tightly knit group of outsiders. Surviving marriages happy and troubled, unrequited loves and unspoken longings, hard-won successes and devastating breakdowns, as well as Charleston, South Carolina’s dark legacy of racism and class divisions, these friends will endure until a final test forces them to face something none of them are prepared for.

Book review

Very disappointed in this book. Conroy tried to add every dysfunctional story line every imagined into one book. Don't waste your time on this disappointment!
