Realistic and down to earth
Revisado: 04-24-24
I love rare books on running where the paces are realistic and what most people actually run and not one self promotion after another, you are very real and it’s a refreshing book I needed !!

Historia
American evangelical Christianity has lost its way. While the witness of the church before a watching world is diminished beyond recognition, congregations are torn apart over Donald Trump, Christian nationalism, racial injustice, sexual predation, disgraced leaders, and covered-up scandals. Left behind are millions of believers who counted on the church to be a place of belonging and hope. As greater and greater numbers of younger Americans bleed out from the church, even the most rooted evangelicals are wondering, “Can American Christianity survive?”

Good story and performance, but not my Thrawn ;)
Revisado: 05-06-21
Good story yes , but Thrawn was too generic compared to other books where he is so unique and really far more interesting than anyone with Force powers

I have met Nabeel and heard him speak, but had no idea how he came to Christ, or the enormity of the price he had to pay, this is his story, and I don't know if I could have had his courage .
Very powerful and moving!

Historia
After a decade-long addiction to crack cocaine and alcohol, Charlie Engle hit bottom with a near-fatal six-day binge that ended in a hail of bullets. As Engle got sober, he turned to running, which became his lifeline, his pastime, and his salvation. He began with marathons, and when marathons weren't far enough he began to take on ultramarathons, races that went for 35, 50, and sometimes hundreds of miles, traveling to some of the most unforgiving places on earth to race.

Good running book
Revisado: 03-12-17
This is a good book to listen to while running, I nice follow up after the better book Born to Run, but it is after all, mostly a good autobiography. A negative is that there is needless profanity in spots, however true, and the narration can be quite good at times, flat at others. I would like to have heard even more on the Copper Canyon part in Mexico, but is touched on on the book, as is the Athens Sparticathon, which is covered in depth in the fantastic book The Road to Sparta. His food eating tips are interesting and probably no running book explains the food part of the equation better.

In 1918, the world was still in the throes of the Great War, the deadliest conflict in human history at that point, but while World War I would be a catastrophic war surpassed only by World War II, an unprecedented influenza outbreak that same year inflicted casualties that would make both wars pale in comparison.
