Excellent refresher or fresh start
Revisado: 04-30-20
As a film major, I can’t say I learned too many new things but it is all great advice and good to hear before starting a project. This book is short and to the point but easy to listen and follow. The advice is on point and the narrator did a very nice job as well.

Good but done with Langdon
Revisado: 11-26-17
I enjoy Dan Brown books but am ready to move on from Langdon series to something new. I liked Origin but it feels a bit like going through the motions. I do love Paul Michael, he is a favorite. I would recommend Origin to any Dan Brown fan.

Devilishly clever, Next blends fact and fiction into a breathless tale of a new world where nothing is what it seems, and a set of new possibilities can open at every turn. Next challenges our sense of reality and notions of morality. Balancing the comic and bizarre with the genuinely frightening and disturbing, Next shatters our assumptions and reveals shocking new choices where we least expect.

Would not recommend this Crichton
Revisado: 09-17-14
Would you try another book from Michael Crichton and/or Dylan Baker?
Crichton yes, I love lots of his books, but Dylan Baker while a very talented actor is for me almost too well known. He is more of a distraction from the material but hard to say for sure since the material was just really not great.
Would you ever listen to anything by Michael Crichton again?
Sure. I read Airframe years ago I might light to re visit that one sometime. That was one of his underrated books in my opinion.
Did Dylan Baker do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
I would have to say yes its just he is so well known to me, I just wouldn't seek him out as narrator but it is not because I don't think he is technically good. He is just not a favorite narrator for me.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Hated it might be a bit strong but other than a timely question about the future of genetics and the law, which is in itself interesting, the story was terrible.
Any additional comments?
I'd say just pick yourself another Crichton and sip this one.

Scary but Great!
Revisado: 09-17-14
If you could sum up Inferno: A Novel in three words, what would they be?
Scary but Great!
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes, totally and that is what I love about Dan Brown books. They always keep you on the edge of your seat. Always a thrill ride. I really am a fan of most all of his books but I really liked this one.
Which scene was your favorite?
It has been a while since I read it but I just remember the tour through Italy being a favorite.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No but I had a great time. The overall story is quite thought provoking and stays with you long after.
Any additional comments?
I love Paul Michael, his is my favorite narrator. I don't know what it is exactly but I just think he is perfect for these fast paced adventures. Perfect go to guy for Dan Brown books.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Best Grisham in a long while
Revisado: 09-17-14
Would you listen to Sycamore Row again? Why?
Possibly, it was a nice read and a great voice
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the return to Jake and a Time to Kill. I was very connected to the main characters and wanted to know what would happen next.
What does Michael Beck bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He is one of my new favorites. He is PERFECT for Grisham books. There have been others that I simply couldn't listen too, so I'd just read the books instead but Beck is wonderful.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I guess the end but I really enjoyed the story as a whole.
Any additional comments?
This one was time well spent.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Book is a long investment to unsatisfying end.
Revisado: 07-24-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I wanted more growth in the characters. I wanted something good to happen. I wanted the journey to not be for nothing. No luck.
What was most disappointing about Donna Tartt’s story?
Main character goes from bad to worse to just plane pathetic.
Which scene was your favorite?
The beginning is the best part.
Could you see The Goldfinch being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Not a good one unless the ending is changed. The screenwriter could only improve this by cutting huge amounts of unnecessary debauchery, but in the end you just don't care what happens to any of these people. You just want it to end. The entire appeal of this book is in what you hope will happen and then it never does.
