It seems like the author has good intentions, but the book is basically a new age account of his spiritual autobiography, personal insights, and current practices he created after a lifetime of being interested in "shamanism." He (white man from the UK) made his own version of "shamanism" based on a number of sources he learned from along the way. Nothing wrong with that, but then he is very critical of others who would do the same thing he did.

Basically, If you want to hear a guy talk about his spirituality and the cultures he found interesting and borrowed from, it's an okay listen. If you're looking for some kind of guide to shamanism, or a particular shamanic tradition, there are better options
