Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Great, great, great
Revisado: 10-02-21
Best story I've listened to in a long time! I could hardly put it down. A friend recommended it and I was intrigued by the concept but I wasn't expecting to be so moved by it.

Self-serving
Revisado: 09-22-21
I'm not a fan of the Trumps but this book seemed very self-serving...a one sided version from a "friend" who got burned. It was somewhat interesting but not completely believable. I have no doubt the mass chaos and backstabbing she talks about was very real but I think much of the book is an exaggerated, one sided perspective from someone with their own agenda.

The good, the bad & the ugly.
Revisado: 09-22-21
I liked his very casual style of recounting the highs and the lows of his job and the party. He didn't sugarcoat it. It struck me as an honest, reflective look back. Loved the "Boehnerisms"! There is quite a bit of "language" so if you're easily offended this book is probably not for you.

Interesting
Revisado: 08-04-21
It's always intriguing to get a look behind the scenes, behind the public persona. I found this book to be interesting and informative, although somewhat sugarcoated. I have to admit, until reading this book, I didn't know a lot about John and Cindy McCain other than what was reported during his run for president. I came away with a much greater respect. He seemed to be a smart man, that most everyone, on both sides of the aisle, respected and were willing to work with. I'm glad I purchased this book.

Historia
When she was suddenly given the opportunity of a new life in rural Jutland, journalist and archetypal Londoner Helen Russell discovered a startling statistic: the happiest place on earth isn't Disneyland but Denmark, a land often thought of by foreigners as consisting entirely of long, dark winters, cured herring, Lego and pastries. What is the secret to their success? Are happy Danes born or made?

Revisado: 02-09-19
Great book! I love the Danish concept of Hygge. There's a reason that Denmark continues to be one of the happiest countries in the world, although not perfect and her account of not only the positive but also the negative provides a good balance of both sides. I enjoyed her writing style and liked the chapter recaps, "Things I've learned this month.", both funny and insightful.

I definitely learned some things, but mostly a nice refresher. There were a couple of things that I completely disagreed with but maybe they were just a difference in culture.

Witness her transformation as you enter a world where appearances are paramount, virginity is auctioned to the highest bidder, women beguile powerful men, and love is scorned as illusion.

Wonderfully written
Revisado: 06-12-18
I was immediately drawn into this story, the life of Chiyo. I found myself staying up late to finish a chapter only to be pulled into the next.
Arthur Golden did a wonderful job writing from the perspective of a young girl and then a woman. Great character development. I had to keep reminding myself that the story and characters were fictional. I would love to know how much of the book reflects the life of a true geisha.

Take two...
Revisado: 08-01-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
with different narration. I just couldn't get into the story because the main narrator's voice and pronunciation were annoying. I didn't listen past the second chapter.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Different voice, better pronunciation, inflection
Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?
NO
Could you see The Undead in My Bed being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I wasn't able to get far enough into the story to know.

Historia
With its trillions of connections, the human brain is more beautiful and complex than anything we could ever build, but it’s far from perfect: our memory is unreliable; we can’t multiply large sums in our heads; advertising manipulates our judgment; we tend to distrust people who are different from us; supernatural beliefs and superstitions are hard to shake; we prefer instant gratification to long-term gain; and what we presume to be rational decisions are often anything but.

Historia
Jacob Tomsky has worked in hotels for more than a decade, doing everything from valet parking to manning the front desk. He's checked you in, checked you out, separated your white panties from the white bed sheets, parked your car, tasted your room service, cleaned your toilet, denied you a late check out, given you a wake-up call, eaten M&Ms out of your mini-bar, laughed at your jokes, and taken your money. And in Heads in Beds, he pulls back the curtain on the hospitality business.
