Historia
After facing war, death, unruly gods, and unmitigated evil, Minalan the Spellmonger is forced to return to Farise, the site of his earliest battles, with the simple assignment to conquer the subtropical city-state and expel the pirates that plague the kingdom’s shipping. Tired of warfare, Minalan embarks on a clandestine campaign to do so, assuming an alias and setting up shop in Farise as a mere Practical Adept as cover for his operation. Recruiting a cadre of talented agents to assist, he reluctantly begins the task of infiltrating and observing Farisian society.

Another great book from a long line of them
Revisado: 10-07-24
Terry Mancour’s Practical Adept is another stellar entry in the Spellmonger series, continuing the high-stakes adventures of Minalin. This time around, the Spellmonger faces an old fear, forcing him to confront his past while opening the door to new knowledge and growth. The book’s blend of rich world-building and character depth continues to shine, but what stands out most is how relatable the journey feels to me while covering an entirely foreign subject. Mancour has a remarkable ability to capture personal struggles and triumphs in such a way that I can’t help but see myself in the story. I found parts of my own life echoed in the pages, from the battles fought to the lessons learned, and the uncanny parallels make the reading experience deeply personal. Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the series, Practical Adept delivers yet again, drawing you in with its magic and heart.

Historia
Roger Reaves grew up a poor farm boy in Georgia and went from making 'moonshine' to becoming one of the most prolific smugglers of the 20th century. He covered six continents, transporting 20 ton ship loads of hash, tons of cocaine, and completed more than 100 sorties across the US border with plane loads of marijuana. His friends and associates spanned the globe - from Medellin Cartel kingpins Jorge Ochoa and Pablo Escobar, to "Mr. Nice" Howard Marks and the infamous Barry Seal who was Roger's close friend and employee.

Roger Reaves is a national treasure
Revisado: 12-04-22
Roger tells his life story like a grandfather recounting his adventures on the front porch meandering from one tale to the next. Sometimes I would have to rewind wondering if I had actually heard what I thought I did. He recounts a fantastic life of both joy and sorrow in the most relatable way even though you and I most likely cannot relate to most of it.
This book has been the most enjoyable listen of 2022 for me. Yes it’s long, but the stories are priceless and worth every moment.

Video game magic system and other problems
Revisado: 05-26-20
Admittedly, I couldn't finish this book. I tried, but it just kept getting worse and worse. Nick Podehl is a great reader but that's where the praise ends.
The main character is completely and frustratingly oblivious as to how anything around him works despite living in the world for his whole (albeit young) life. Add to that a video game like magic system and seemingly forced LGBT content and you have yourself one stinker of a book.

Great book and pretty good characters
Revisado: 06-14-19
This was just as good as the first book and I’m looking forward to the third installment as soon as it arrives. I really enjoyed the characters growth in this book and how things did not turn out as expected. There were a few times where I thought... I know what’s going to happen but something else would happen instead.

Skeptical at first...
Revisado: 11-29-18
I was totally skeptical about this series at first. I mean, what business does a wizard have on a space ship? I though I would throw away a credit on this silly book to pass the time but little did I know, I would fall in love with it. It's not a literary masterpiece by any means but it is exactly the kind of thing that I love; Interesting characters, lots of action, and well placed humor with a side of quirk. Credit well spent and thank you Mr. Morin.
Also the narrator does a pretty good job as well. I'd certainly look for other books he narrated and give them a listen.

Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

Thinly veiled political garbage
Revisado: 09-08-18
If you want to listen to a short story that praises the data loving prince Obama and trashes the money grubbing rich guy Trump, then this is the story for you. I have serious doubts about the validity of the statements made. They seem to be built on half truths at best. Glad it was free.

Historia
What is masculinity? Ask ten men and you'll get ten vague, conflicting answers. Unlike any book of its kind, The Way of Men offers a simple, straightforward answer - without getting bogged down in religion, morality, or politics. It's a guide for understanding who men have been and the challenges men face today. The Way of Men captures the silent, stifling rage of men everywhere who find themselves at odds with the overregulated, overcivilized, politically correct modern world.

Great book but some frustrating flaws
Revisado: 07-06-17
I really enjoyed this book for what it was. Every now and then, I listen to this book to shake off the dregs of feminism that sneak into daily life threatening to emasculate me. It is good to refocus ever now and then.
The one problem that I have is that there are a few places where the audio skips and you have to interpret what Jack was probably saying.
other than that, I love this book.

Revisado: 05-20-16
I never listen to books more than once but this book kept me captivated both times I listened to it. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the best thing I've read this year! I was skeptical because Renshaw is self published, but all my fears were relieved once I began this wonderful book. I am anxiously awaiting book 2.

I hate that I loved this book.
Revisado: 04-30-14
I get a little tired of the people who say that "if you dont like it, its because you dont understand it" I think its more likely that people who say they like this book, actually think its quite terrible and only say they like it because it makes them feel like part of the intelligent crowd. I think it is also quite possible that because you hate this book you will also love it for this very reason. Yosarian is a part of my soul that I've never laid a name to. I hate this with a passion though I cannot deny the truth of the matter. Read the book and learn a little something about yourself but feel free to hate it. You won't be an idiot becasue of it.

The Excellence Continues
Revisado: 04-30-14
Do not fear the length of this book unless you fear loosing yourself in Rothfuss's world for too long. It is an excellent story that had me laughing and hoping for its entire length. The only problem that i have with it, is that I have to wait for the third book.. The characters are well developed and the world is believable.
*************************** Small Spoiler****************************************
I did find it a bit odd that Kvothe being so chaste in the first book, became the snogging pro by the end of this one. Maybe a little too much time was spent on this, though it did work to build his legend...
