Historia
Two years ago, a hostile Prime Minister launched the Monochrome inquiry, investigating "historical over-reaching" by the British Secret Service “to investigate historical over-reaching.” Monochrome’s mission was to ferret out any hint of misconduct by any MI5 officer—and allowed Griselda Fleet and Malcolm Kyle, the two civil servants seconded to the project, unfettered access to any and all confidential information in the Service archives in order to do so. But MI5’s formidable First Desk did not become Britain’s top spy by accident, and she has successfully thwarted the inquiry at every turn.

Historia
Nearly 70, Wes Hendricks has led a tough and colorful life as a cowboy and broncobuster, and all he asks now is that he be left alone on his poor, hardscrabble ranch in the West Texas hill country. Not a chance - the powers that be in the little town of Big River (including Wes' old cowboy pal, druggist/Mayor Orville Levitt) have decreed that an artificial lake will be created to generate tourism, and Wes' ranch stands squarely in their way.

GREAT story! Hit the spot

A throwback story but we all can relate to the characters. Great breakdown of the characters and the situation and the times. It really made me reflect on life and our priorities. Give this a go if you are reeling from today’s “what is all for” wonderment.

Well constructed story!
Revisado: 12-18-20
This author tells a story where if you're from a small town or work in small town you can really relate to the societal structure and related characters. Excellent narration as well.

What a GREAT story!!
Revisado: 10-02-19
Take a break -- like I did -- from who-done-it books and others and treat yourself to a one of a kind novel. Moving, gripping at times, and instructive, after listening to this story you'll find yourself reinforcing and embracing its assertions on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness -- despite its setting not being in America.
