Lovely and Haunting
Revisado: 12-25-24
I liked the narrating for the most part. A couple of times it was a bit off for various character parts I thought. The loyalty the main historical character had for her “sister” was frustrating especially in such dangerous times. I thought it misplaced regardless of the girls naivety. The modern day sisters were dealing with modern day issues which seemed so tame in comparison to the historical era. With that I far more enjoyed the historical drama of the book. One of my favorite historical stories from the author so far. I liked how she portrayed the haunting sadness of Agnes.

Current day. Historical past. Haunting
Revisado: 12-12-24
I found another author that I enjoy. I thought the narrator did a fine job. Easy listening to. The historical heroine was beautifully written. The current day heroine I thought behaved as a twenty something instead of a woman in her late 30 years . I wanted to slap her! However about midway through she matured to where she seemed more of a woman with better insight. Her ghostly roommate will break your heart!

Historia
England, 1881. Hereford Cathedral stands sentinel over the city, keeping its secrets, holding long forgotten souls in its stony embrace. Hecate Cavendish speeds through the cobbled streets on her bicycle, skirts hitched daringly high, heading for her new life as Assistant Librarian. But this is no ordinary collection of books. The cathedral houses an ancient chained library, wisdom guarded for centuries, mysteries and stories locked onto its worn, humble shelves. The most prized artifact, however, is the medieval world map which hangs next to Hecate’s desk.

Fun whimsical strong female lead
Revisado: 11-27-24
The heroine has a childlike curiosity with a developing inner strength that makes her very enjoyable company. The narrator does a fine read allowing the reader to get a more dramatic feel of the feelings and thoughts of the characters. Found the plot line mysteriously fun and wonderfully imagined.

Fictional? Realistically Grim and Captivating!
Revisado: 11-06-24
Endearing slow start that rapidly progresses into full character development of a father and his daughters slugging through the horrors of a nightmare, Inadequacies of society protecting a very vulnerable segment of our population, is brought to the forefront. Narrative is great. Be prepared for a gripping horrific tale that, well, is not as foreign as we make think.

All of us long to know what life after death will be like. Best-selling author John Burke is no exception. In Imagine Heaven, Burke compares over 100 gripping stories of near-death experiences (NDEs) to what Scripture says about our biggest questions of heaven: Will I be myself? Will I see friends and loved ones? What will heaven look like? What is God like? What will we do forever? What about children and pets?

I’ve been a Christian for along time. Troubled by doubts. Faced with circumstances that I survived but never encountering the episodes in this book. However as a grateful survivor am pleased to learn that others faced insurmountable odds to speak Gods truth. The author is knowledgeable biblically and historically and gives an insightful book about the ties that bind the human race with our God.

Evil lives, lives lost and living bravely
Revisado: 06-27-24
I really enjoyed the young adults in this book , who befriend a convicted murderer on the brink of his own death. The college students each lived stressed lives caused by messy childhoods and things they could and couldn’t control . This helped set the foundation of the young man’s desire to clear the Vietnam vet of a heinous crime 30 years ago.
The complexities of human behavior is relatable. As the young couple strive to find the true culprit without thought of self preservation hold on!!!

Love Loyalty and Lethal
Revisado: 04-21-24
My first book by Dean Koontz. Won’t be my last. Every character was a character well defined and totally absorbing. Loved how Einstein the dog was developed and relationship to his friends and caretakers. Even the villains, as evil as they were, earned ones fear and pity. Story moved at a great pace. Reader did a fine job. Would recommend to everyone.
