Historia
My life’s goal? Make plants fun! I’m gonna be fighting for flora when I’m older and it all starts with auditing stats so I can level up for my masters, and lucky for me, the intriguing guy in my class is a math whizz. He’s standoffish at first, but after a class where I bet my sitcoms can make him laugh, one bet leads to another and we’re hanging out all the time. Even though I know he’s interested in me, we’re easy friends, until I start to think I might be a little interested in him, too.

Mindless romance
Revisado: 07-12-24
If you want a fun, mindless romance, this will do. No conflict to speak of. Just a mushy story.

Banging my son’s bestie was a total accident that will never, ever happen again. I’m sure of it. While he might be gorgeous and caught me in a weak moment, when it comes right down to it, my son has been my entire life for the last twenty-six years. I don’t know how to be anything other than his dad. But with Molly heading off to Seattle, he leaves me with a parting gift: Will. His best friend. And my new roommate.

Yes and no
Revisado: 02-24-24
I enjoy this series so much! This was a good story, however when I hit chapter 15 and the MCs had not really gotten together yet, I got bored. It did have the feel of dramatic tension- it was just slow. As long as you’re willing to wait it out, it’s a pretty good story.

With the quiet help of his wealthy family, Sebastian "Baz" Acker has successfully kept his painful past at bay. But as the end of college draws near, his friends - his buffer zone - are preparing to move on while his own life is at a crippling standstill. With loneliness bearing down on him, Baz hooks up - then opens up - with Elijah Prince, the guy Baz took a bullet for last year. The aftershocks of their one-night stand leave giant cracks in Baz's carefully constructed armor.

I didn’t make if far in this one. I was surprised as I usually like the narrator but I started several times and it did not hold my attention at all.

Historia
Arthur is only in New York for the summer, but if Broadway has taught him anything, it’s that the universe can deliver a showstopping romance when you least expect it. Ben thinks the universe needs to mind its business. If the universe had his back, he wouldn’t be on his way to the post office carrying a box of his ex-boyfriend’s things. But when Arthur and Ben meet-cute at the post office, what exactly does the universe have in store for them? Maybe nothing. After all, they get separated. Maybe everything. After all, they get reunited.

Too YA
Revisado: 06-25-21
I was disappointed in this one. I usually enjoy YA Lit but this one.... it read like a teen had written it. Too much telling instead of showing. Endless internal dialogue. Lackluster characters. By the third do-over date I was really hoping they’d both just go home and drop the whole thing. I got not sense of a real connection between the MCs. No tension. And I’m not sure what you’d call the end - not HEA or HFN - but by then I didn’t care.

Attention Audible!!
Revisado: 05-29-21
I’m writing this review as a published author in this genre AND a nationally certified sign language interpreter. In this audiobook you have a narrator voicing a deaf character in “deaf voice” which is wrong on so many level I don’t know where to begin.
There are many ways to include a non-speaking character without something that comes off as nothing less than mocking. It’s embarrassing that you have this on your platform, it’s embarrassing the narrator attempted to do it, it’s embarrassing the author allowed it.
It’s unfortunate the group (deaf) who is the subject of this terrible misrepresentation just happens to be the one group who generally does not use Audible products, and therefore will never know about this egregious attempt to represent them.
I’m honestly don’t know where to go with this but a single review does not seem to address this nearly enough. The fact that something like this even has to be addressed in 2021 is pathetic.
I urge you to rethink your representation of this mockery of a novel, as I rethink where to go next with this.

Disappointed
Revisado: 04-23-21
I love most of Elin Hilderbrand’s Nantucket books but this was tediously repetitive. And I struggled to find anything redeeming in the protagonists as they continued to make the same choices that kept them stuck over decades. A lesson in what not to do.

Historia
Anna Klein is ready to return to work as a literary agent for the first time since having children. She and her husband, Josh, decide to hire a live-in nanny with some trepidation, but all their misgivings disappear as soon as they meet Oaklynn Durst. She has stellar references, a calm disposition, and a natural way with children. But not long after Oaklynn arrives, the children start to come down with the most puzzling illnesses and inexplicable injuries. When the maternal Oaklynn is there to comfort everyone, Anna can’t help feeling a little eclipsed. And suspicious.

Research required
Revisado: 08-18-20
I’m surprised the author, who created this supposedly devious character, didn’t have her research how offensive it is to call a deaf individual “disabled”. Wow. The Deaf are a linguistic minority and can do everything a hearing person can, except hear. I was so put off by that lack of research.
Also giving an initial description of a character is usually sufficient. Let the readers fill in the blanks in their minds as they read. The author took every opportunity to reinforce how fat Oaklynn was and how Asian Anna was it was ridiculous. Try trusting your readers.

Needs a new narrator
Revisado: 11-04-19
I so wanted to like this book as the beginning of a series. I just could not get past this narrator’s voice. There are references to how the main character sounds (contralto), and this book sounds like it’s being read by whiny old woman! I googled the narrator and was surprised to find she wasn’t one, but still... I won’t be continuing the series because of of this.

Former fanfic?
Revisado: 10-12-19
Did this start as a piece of fan fiction? I asked myself that over and over as it played on endlessly. I’d put money on Criminal Minds. It’s so-so for a mindless listen if you’re really good at suspending disbelief. Books 2 and 7 are by far the weakest writing - they were painful to hear. I’m a fan of Therese Plummer’s audio performances and she did great considering what she had to work with.
