Historia
Felix and Lane are trying out their new normal. No more car chases, no more drug lords, and no more kidnapping bad guys. But when Felix's brother wants to repair their relationship, he brings with him a secret that could cost all of them their lives. Lane isn't complaining because the thrills of life-threatening situations are right up his alley. They may think they have a handle on the situation, but what they do not know is that someone has been working them from the shadows. Forcing them to do exactly what he wants as he drives them closer to his sick game of life and death.

Equally hilarious, adventurous, heartfelt, and horrifying
Revisado: 07-28-24
It’s often difficult to follow up the first in a series with a story that’s equally as good but Alice Winters does so. All the elements from the first book can be found here but in a different way. I highly recommend reading/listening to them in order. I’ve listened to these books multiple times mainly due to Joel Leslie’s perfect narration. The way he uses his voice to add just the right amount of sarcasm, emotion, exasperation, or even a touch of whining really brings the characters to life.

Historia
Felix and Lane are struggling with just how boring a "normal" life is, so when they get a chance to jump into action, they do so without a second thought - especially since they're offered a lot of money. The request is simple: find a way to retrieve a watch from police custody. But things are never as easy as they seem. Suddenly, they're caught in the middle of a family feud that could turn deadly. But no matter what, through kidnappings, car chases, and cooking mishaps, Felix knows that as long as Lane is by his side, they will find a way to set things right.

Good story, awesome performance
Revisado: 03-03-24
I love the banter between Felix and Lane and Joel Leslie does an amazing job capturing Felix’s cheekiness and Lane’s dry humor. The story is just as action-packed as the previous two. A few things seemed a little less believable but it was still a good story.

Historia
When I rode my bike into Aster Valley, it was supposed to be temporary. A quick, relaxing visit with friends. No entanglements. Zero drama. But then I saw the bumblebee being harassed on the side of the highway. More specifically, I saw Truman Sweet, Aster Valley’s resident botanist, spice merchant, and bee-costume enthusiast, being harassed.

Great story
Revisado: 02-17-24
I really enjoyed this second installment of the series, even more than I did the first one. Truman is an adorable, dorky character who is sweetly awkward. Sam is very much an alpha man but is gentle with Truman from the very beginning. I did figure out who was behind the troubles Truman had before the end of the book but it all unfolds nicely. I felt for Sam after the incident with his family.
Michael Dean does a great job narrating Truman. His version of Sam is a little over the top but I did enjoy how he read/performed the book. He adds all the emotions in certain scenes that would make those scenes come across as dull otherwise.

Historia
A nice boy gets naughty...Redheaded freshman Jeremy "Cherry" Rourke is certainly living up to his childhood nickname, although still being inexperienced is the least of his concerns. After coming out, his parents barely talk to him. He hasn't made any friends at university. Worst of all, he's about to spend Christmas completely alone in an empty dorm. Jeremy clearly needs a fairy godfather, so football captain Max Pimenta takes him under his wing to help him find his dating groove. But Jeremy's wound way too tight. He's too vulnerable. Max can't trust some random guy with him.

Great story
Revisado: 02-15-24
I’m a sucker for the nerd/jock trope and this story definitely delivers. It’s in turn sweet and spicy. Jeremy is socially awkward and that’s so relatable to me. Max was a sweet, kind guy and not at all the stereotypical jock. His friends kind of were, at least at first. They laugh at Jeremy and make fun of him when Jeremy falls on an icy sidewalk, which is how Max and Jeremy meet. They never apologize for having done so either. Ultimately, the friends seem okay though. The story is good enough for re-reads and the audio is performed well enough for repeated listening.

His world was water and rhythm. Hard work and drive kept Royal O'Connell one step ahead of his competition. His spot on the swim team, keeping his scholarship, was the only plan that mattered. His world was ebony and ivory. Natural talent and ambition set Camden Morgan apart from the other music majors. His dedication scored him a full ride. Normally, their paths would have never crossed...but when Royal meets his best friend's new roommate, his big plan and Camden's controlled environment faces a variable that could destroy it all: attraction.

Beautiful story, wonderful performances
Revisado: 01-27-24
I love this story. The writing is incredibly well-done. I love how Royal and Camden came together slowly, drawn together, complementing each other like a perfect harmony. The narration of this book was also well-done. The narrators became the characters, their voices filled with emotion when warranted. Never flat and never a simple narration of the text. This is define I could listen to more than once.

A chance reunion with his brother’s childhood best friend leaves Arden hungry for attention. He’s always loved Iggy, despite their vast age difference, but he didn’t know Iggy was gay until now. His family wouldn’t approve. His brother wouldn’t approve. Plus, Arden isn’t in a position to have a relationship.

Revisado: 12-23-23
Just reading the book brought me to tears but HEARING it really made me cry at certain points. The narration was perfect, with all the emotions that the particular subject matter and scenes should have. I can’t recommend this one enough if the subject matter of eating disorders isn’t a trigger.

Historia
"Look out for Zach, and don't hit on him." My brother's request sounds easy enough. Keep an eye out for his best friend on campus and keep my hands to myself. Easy. Even if Zach is a quintessential nerd, who I've always thought was cute, I don't have the time to think with my...stick. There's only one stick I should be focused on this year, and that's my hockey stick. My goal once I graduate is to get an NHL contract. The last thing I need is a distraction. On or off the ice. Only, keeping to the rules is harder than I thought it would be.

Sweet story and great narration
Revisado: 11-17-23
There’s a soft spot in my heart for nerd/jock stories and this one delivers in the best of ways. Zach is socially awkward, doesn’t understand people, and wears superhero underwear. He’s also had a crush on his best friend’s brother for a while.
Foster is the captain of the college hockey team and has a bit of a reputation for sleeping around. His brother asks him to look out for Zach since Zach had just started attending Foster’s college. The more time he spends with Zach, the harder it is for him to hold back his attraction to him.
The narrators brought the characters to life well, capturing the personalities perfectly. A few times, the way the dialogue was said didn’t quite match how it was supposed to be but for the most part, they did a great job.

Historia
When Judah Madden flees his tiny suffocating home town in New Zealand for the dream of international ballet stardom, he never intends coming back. Not to Painted Bay. Not to his family’s struggling mussel farm. Not to his jerk of a brother. Not with his entire life plan in shreds. And certainly not into the tempting arms of Morgan Wipene, the older ruggedly handsome fisheries officer who seems determined to screw with Judah’s intention to wallow in peace. But dreams are fickle things.

Great Story, Narrated wonderfully
Revisado: 11-16-23
I’d never heard of Judah’s disease before so that, combined with him having had a ballet career, piqued my interest. Judah’s struggles to come to terms with his life as it is rather than what it was, came across as very realistic. Add to that stress the brother tension and it makes you want to just hug the poor guy. Morgan was more than willing to give him all the hugs and love, despite dealing with his own loss. Their witty banter always made me smile, Morgan giving as good as he got.
The narration was masterfully done, proper inflections where they’re supposed to be. He made it sound as if each character was literally sitting with you and telling their parts of the story.

It's the phone call every parent dreads: in the middle of the night, Sandy Cline learns that her twenty-year-old son, Jordan, has been in a car accident. Her nephew, Travis, was also in the car, along with Travis's girlfriend. All three are alive - but barely. The car was smashed against a tree along a remote and winding road, beautiful but deadly, in their rural Texas Hill Country town.

Good story

The story was heartbreaking and the narration was very well done. I teared up at certain times. The only thing I wish was that there was a resolution as far as the girl was concerned. That was left somewhat open ended.
