"The future we imagine must be a reality in which we collectively do more to combat the things that continually leave asexuals unprotected. To create this future, we have to consistently challenge both compulsory sexuality and white supremacist ideologies" (chapter "Possibilities," print book page 169)
"The Black asexual is rendered impossible through the (il)logics of anti-Black sexual racism, white supremacy, and compulsory sexuality. A world that allows for Black asexuals to be seen as possible, to live more freely in our asexuality, would also be a revolution for all others racialized, gendered, and queered. Such a world requires us to combat white supremacist ideologies and the very idea of 'human'" (chapter "Unhuman," print book page 122)

I watch Matt Parker's YouTube channels, so I'd heard a lot about the book, but I just got to reading it now, and I highly recommend it. Fascinating stories that are in turns tragic and comedic and flow together very well. The narration is excellent and engaging. When I got to the end, I was sad that it was over. I could've listened to hours more of this book and never gotten bored

This book presents a side of US history that many mainlanders have never seen before, by design. Immerwahr discusses how and why the US distanced itself from its territorial possessions after WWII, and the book shows how US empire didn’t end, just shifted its methods. This book is a fascinating and important exploration of what empire looks like today, and I would consider it essential reading to any mainlander who seeks to understand more about history than we were taught in schools. Immerwahr’s argument is well crafted and full of interesting facts and connections, and Moreno did an excellent job narrating it. I enjoyed this book immensely, and I learned so much from it.

Rachel Maddow is so incredibly good at crafting stories, and this is a story we should be paying attention to. This book helps explain how and why the oil industry came to dominate modern-day politics, and details the many choices that sent us down this path. She connected the dots on a lot of things I had not previously realized were connected, and every detail or tangent has its purpose in the broader narrative. I highly recommend this book for those looking for a history of the oil industry or an explanation of how the US and Russia interact in the twenty first century, and what implications both of these bring.

I had so much fun listening to this story. The world is so cleverly constructed, there is so much unnecessary but highly entertaining background detail, and the matter-of-fact way this book is written makes it all even better. The narrator did an excellent job as well. I'm very much looking forward to continuing the series!

I adore these books, and I always have. Listening to this for the first time was a wonderful experience. Rob Inglis does an excellent job reading: the voices really let you track who’s saying what, which can sometimes be difficult in an audiobook setting, and Inglis sings the songs, which is delightful (I always find it tricky to read songs in a book, because I never know what tune to put them to in my head).

This lecture series is an excellent overview of the medieval world. It is hard to find a balance between details and big picture for an era in which so much happened. Each lecture topic could have had its own lecture series, but Professor Armstrong did a good job of finding this balance between giving examples and showing how they fit into larger themes.

I had to read this book for class, and I could not have gotten through it in time without also having the audiobook. The story itself is absolutely fascinating, and I highly recommend this book to anyone who is even vaguely interested in the movements of the 60s and 70s, even if you've never heard of the Weather Underground before.
