It doesn’t seem like Stephen king wrote this.

This really doesn’t sound like king’s writing. There’s a lot of unnecessary rambling, it is lackluster and doesn’t have the magic and quirkiness of his older books. It is repetitive and sounds like king is struggling to find anything interesting for his characters to say. At first I thought it was because of the new narrator (I’m partial to Will Patton) but as I continued on, the writing seemed…basic?? As for Holly, she is boring annoying and lacks the charm from the earlier books. Again, not sure if it was because Will Patton was a master narrator and able to inject more to her character then there was.
If this was authored by someone unfamiliar to me, I would say it was fair but because it’s supposed to be by King, I’m really disappointed.

Just too much

I knew what I was in for since I’ve listened to all of Liane Moriarty’s books but this one was a bit tedious. There seemed to be much more character introspection and background than usual. It got very tiresome at times.

Pointless

I’m 4 hrs into and still don’t see a point to the story. It so far has not been as provocative as the synopsis promised. There is too much mindless dialogue and the only positive thing about the book is the narrator. I don’t think I can finish listening to the book. I might keep it on the back burner for when I’m out of credits.

Tedious

The story is slow and tedious. I couldn’t bring myself to finish the book and quit a quarter of the way. The main character is very whiny, repetitive and annoying. I just could not sympathize with her and am really tired of all these “is she crazy or not” books. The narrator was very good though. I think I’ll try science fiction next just to get away from these silly domestic thrillers that seem to be trending.

A really fun mystery

Not sure what the point was but still a good listen.

The book is fluidly written but the story is slow. I don’t think I would’ve finished it if I had to read it. I’m not sure what the point of the story was except maybe that random sh*t happens and that’s life.

The authors did a good job writing this book but I’m soooo tired of these “Is she or isn’t she crazy” stories. I think I will have to avoid the bestseller recommendations for a while.
