Historia
In a village in ancient Norway lives a boy named Odd, and he's had some very bad luck: His father perished in a Viking expedition; a tree fell on and shattered his leg; the endless freezing winter is making villagers dangerously grumpy. Out in the forest Odd encounters a bear, a fox, and an eagle - three creatures with a strange story to tell. Now Odd is forced on a stranger journey than he had imagined, a journey to save Asgard, city of the gods, from the Frost Giants who have invaded it.

Cute Story, Good For Kids
Revisado: 12-28-11
This shouldn't be compared to Gaiman's fantastic repository of work. Odd is a cute children's story, excellent for the entire family, a good short listen.

Historia
Clare and Henry have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was 36. They were married when Clare was 23 and Henry was 31. Impossible but true, because Henry is one of the first people diagnosed with Chrono-Displacement Disorder: periodically his genetic clock resets and he finds himself misplaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.

Touching and Heart Warming/Heart Wrenching Story
Revisado: 10-31-11
This was my FIRST audible purchase. The only reason I dind't give Time Traveler's Wife 5 stars overall is the book's reminiscence of punk music genre throughout. I've never been a punk fan, and found it sometimes difficult to connect with those references. But the story as a whole was extremely touching. The loving relationship that develops between the primary characters is unique. His peculiar condition presents some most interesting scenarios, and I really like the way Niffenegger approached time travel. Making it a genetic mutation rather than a technical advance added a level of familiarity to the story, brought it to the level of us non-techies. Thoroughly enjoyable yet tragic story.

Epic and Heartfelt
Revisado: 10-31-11
Some books this long are bogged down with boring descriptions or lengthy explanations. Not Follett's POTE! It is gripping throughout, never losing me as a "reader". I was anxious to get back into the story during every commute, and was sad to see the story end. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone, particularly lovers of historical fiction.

Historia
The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

It just never caught on with me
Revisado: 11-04-10
I am a HUGE Neil Gaiman fan. Stardust, Anansi Boys, American Gods, Neverwhere, The Graveyard Book, ALL of which I would recommend to my best friends. I purchased Good Omens on Gaiman's reputation alone. I can only determine that Terry Pratchett was the primary author of this book. This book was not entertaining for me. It was a difficult listen, the minutes seemed to drag on and on. I begged for some sort of climax. I got so bored with it, I listened to it on double speed just to hurry it along. I cannot in good faith recommend this book to any Neil Gaiman fan. Perhaps some hard core Douglas Adams fans will find some passing delight in Good Omens, but it certainly pales in comparison to Hitchhiker's Guide. Buyer beware!

Passionate, earthy, deeply affecting, The Red Tent combines rich storytelling with a valuable contribution to modern fiction: a vibrant new perspective of female life in the age that shaped present day civilization and values.
If you like The Red Tent, try The Harlot by the Side of the Road, a recounting of some of the most startling and explicit writings from The Old Testament.

Biblical Character from a Different Perspective
Revisado: 08-13-08
This was an interesting story through the eyes of a lesser known Biblical character. The story of these ancient women was a bit captivating, but it didn't grab my attention. I didn't find myself longing to return to the listen.
