Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Historia
The year is 2008 and Samantha Kofer's career at a huge Wall Street law firm is on the fast track - until the recession hits and she gets downsized, furloughed, escorted out of the building. Samantha, though, is one of the "lucky" associates. She's offered an opportunity to work at a legal aid clinic for one year without pay, after which there would be a slim chance that she'd get her old job back. In a matter of days Samantha moves from Manhattan to Brady, Virginia, population 2,200, in the heart of Appalachia, a part of the world she has only read about.

Worst Narrator Ever. Book is dull, dull, dull.
Revisado: 11-07-14
Would you try another book from John Grisham and/or Catherine Taber?
I have enjoyed other John Grisham novels, but not this one. It's about as interesting as watching grass grow.
What was most disappointing about John Grisham’s story?
No plot, cardboard cut-out characters, slow pace.
What didn’t you like about Catherine Taber’s performance?
It was very difficult to tell which character was talking. They all sounded alike. The phrasing was awkward. We did better reading than this in my high school interpretive reading class. I think Taber was as bored with he story as I was.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Sleep.
Any additional comments?
I wish I'd never bought this book.

Paul Batista, one of the country's foremost defense lawyers, has written the ultimate legal thriller with murder in its heart. When Tom Perini, a legendary Heisman Trophy winner turned criminal lawyer, is found brutally murdered in Central Park, his widow, Julie, not only must unravel the mysteries of her husband's secret double life, but survive long enough to discover the truth. A thriller and courtroom drama of corruption and greed so authentic it reads like tomorrow's headlines.

Stupid and boring
Revisado: 07-11-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This book might suit someone who wants to read something akin to a cheap romance novel.
What was most disappointing about Paul Batista’s story?
It fell down with a big thud at the end. No suspense.
How could the performance have been better?
The reader made it worse.
What character would you cut from Death's Witness?
All of them.

Historia
Seth Hubbard is a wealthy man dying of lung cancer. He trusts no one. Before he hangs himself from a sycamore tree, Hubbard leaves a new, handwritten, will. It is an act that drags his adult children, his Black maid, and Jake into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made Brigance one of Ford County's most notorious citizens, just three years earlier. The second will raises far more questions than it answers. Why would Hubbard leave nearly all of his fortune to his maid? Had chemotherapy and painkillers affected his ability to think clearly?

Good read; classic Grisham, first-rate narrator
Revisado: 12-31-13
What made the experience of listening to Sycamore Row the most enjoyable?
The narrator is the best I've heard on Audible. His voice is pleasing and he knows how to include inflections at the appropriate times. The book is suspenseful and the characters are well-crafted. Grisham has strayed from his core skills in past books. It's good to see that he's back!

Good book, but narrator ruins it
Revisado: 10-19-12
Where does The Ice Limit rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is as good an adventure book as most.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Not really. At times it did -- near the end of the book.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator's sing-song, melodramatic voice with inappropriate inflection ruins the experience.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Where ego meets ice.

Uninteresting, and poorly narrated
Revisado: 03-05-11
This book is way too tedious to hold one's attention, including too many details. The narration is very distracting, because the reader's phrasing is awkward, with pauses where they don't belong, and monotonous inflection. The writer chases many rabbit trails that have nothing to do with the stalking of Martin Luther King or the hunt for his assassin.
