This Heroine Creates Her Own Drana
Revisado: 11-27-24
When the heroine is still clueless with 3 hours left in the book… it sure feels like a waste of time to have listened to this one.

Characters You Can Love, Witty Writing, and Delightfully Emotional
Revisado: 07-13-24
This one ended up on my favorites list. I loved both the hero and heroine. I loved how relatable they were, how good to their core, but also how human their weaknesses and strengths and the way life and love shape them. I loved the way the author understood that the strengthening comfort of family bonds can be depended when life is at its most desperate. ***And the child characters are adorable!!

Where is the True Love?
Revisado: 11-11-23
Besides a narrator who makes men sound like weak weasels and women like simpering misses or nasal shrews — I do not like a romance where I can’t see any real love between the hero and heroine until the last chapter (if that). The hero of the story was weak and lustful, I couldn’t see any reason why the heroine should love him for he showed no regard for her other than his lust for her.

Ugg! A Gay BFF and roommate for a woman on the western frontier?!
Revisado: 09-12-23
Overall, I’ve liked this series, I really liked the first book… even though the narrator cannot do male voices…
This book, it would have been as good as the last if the author hadn’t decided to add a detail so out of the realm of possibility for the historical time. The heroine falls into forever friendship at first sight with a gay man and then decides to become his roommate. You can not get more ridiculous a story line for a western period piece. If it weren’t for that part of the story it would have been just as good as the first book.

Conflicts between the couple are juvinile
Revisado: 08-27-23
I have liked some of the books in this series, and there are things I like about the writing style of this author… this one was not as good. This narrator is grating, so putting up with the narrator is a trial at times — better if you speed her up a bit — but I could have gotten past that I’d the two main characters weren’t so juvenile in the way they hassle life.

Entering her fourth Season and approaching spinsterhood in the eyes of society, she pours her innermost feelings out not in a diary but in letters to her brother's old school friend, a duke - with no intention of ever sending these private thoughts to a man she's heard stories about but never met.
