Historia
Entrepreneurship, personal responsibility, and upward mobility: These traditions are at the heart of the free enterprise system, and have long been central to America's exceptional culture. In recent years, however, policymakers have dramatically weakened these traditions - by exploding the size of government, propping up their corporate cronies, and trying to reorient our system from rewarding merit to redistributing wealth. Arthur C. Brooks shows that this trend cannot be reversed through materialistic appeals.

I had difficulty starting it as it was relating some realities that I already knew that are depressing, but I decided to skip to chapter 2 and I was very glad that I did. I believe in the free enterprise system for many reasons, the biggest one is the satisfaction that comes from this kind of work. It just plain feels good to accomplish something that makes our customers successful. This book gives real value to real work.

Help for Parents who care
Revisado: 12-30-15
Would you listen to How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk again? Why?
I am listening to this book again. I have also purchased the book "how to talk so Teens will listen...
What did you like best about this story?
I like that this book is so practical. I have also purchased the paperback so that I can work through the problems in it and see the cartoons. They are helpful.
What does Susan Bennett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I like listening as I drive by myself. It is inspiring. Susan Bennett is an excellent reader and acts like the story is really hers.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I have taken it in chunks, as I am able. It is the type to go back to and practice what you have heard, then review.
Any additional comments?
I am grateful for this book, I just wish I had started with it 30 years ago. My husband is a good listener, but I am not. We have seven children ( two teens still at home) and we have made about every mistake in the book. We have always cared deeply about how we parent and felt quite inadequate. We are grateful that, for the most part, our children are forgiving of our blunders. All that said, I am determined to make a difference in the way I listen and communicate in the future. This book is very helpful in that it is practical and the methods work. I have been trying to use the methods in listening to my husband, adult children, teens, my grandchildren, and even my mother, who does not listen too well herself. I am encouraged that I can change my relationships with these techniques. I already feel less frustrated.
