Historia
When retired FBI Agent Patrick Henderson calls in an 'X-Ray Sierra India' incident, the operator doesn't understand. He tells them to pass it up the chain till someone does. That person is FBI Special Agent Kimberley Reynolds. Leaving Quantico for snowbound Northern Wisconsin, she finds that a tornado has flattened half the town—and there's no sign of Henderson. Things soon go from weird to worse, as neighbors report unsettling sightings, key evidence goes missing, and the snow keeps rising—cutting off the town, with no way in or out . . .

OK, but I miss Peter Grantt
Revisado: 09-19-23
The narrator was just OK. The story was also OK. But not nearly as fun and interesting as Peter Grant! I do hope Aaronovitch with write some REAL books with Peter Grant and all the others in the Folly!

Between them and Lancre stand a coven of four - Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, Magrat and young Agnes - and they don't take kindly to murderous intruders....

Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Three years after her mother’s death, Ruth is finally sorting through her things when she finds a curious relic: a decades-old photograph of her own Norfolk cottage—before she lived there—with a peculiar inscription on the back. Ruth returns to the cottage to uncover its meaning as Norfolk’s first cases of Covid-19 make headlines, leaving her and Kate to shelter in place there. They struggle to stave off isolation by clapping for frontline workers each evening and befriending a kind neighbor, Zoe, from a distance.

Seemed shorter
Revisado: 07-03-22
After waiting so long, somehow this book seemed shorter. Did a relatively good job relating beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, but maybe could have done more! Not so much archeology, but I guess that is understandable.

So, I wonder why there is a gap of three Audible books. In any case, nice that I can continue with this series. This is a good one, with - ALMOST all the favorite characters. I have no idea why the author did what she did. Sad that she seems to have ended Barbara's potential romance. Hope she's not planning on putting Lynley and Havers together. That would just be wrong.

Best so far
Revisado: 05-17-22
Been reading/listening to this series of books by Elizabeth George. I did not like the last book much because was - for my tastes - too much of a minor character. I won't say more as I don't want to give any spoilers. This story focused on Barbara Havers. I enjoyed it and the mystery was a good one.

But when he opens an innocuous-looking letter addressed to him at The Source, he discovers that someone else excels at ferreting out secrets as well. Ten-year-old Charlotte Bowen has been abducted, and if Luxford does not admit publicly to having fathered her, she will die.

Better than last book
Revisado: 05-08-22
IMHO the last book had way too much of none a in character. I read these books for the recurring characters. This book had a good balance. And no gruesome descriptions - thank goodness. And reasonable mystery.

Historia
A body always tells a story - but this child’s was a blank page. Rita reached for the lantern. She trained its light on the child’s face. "Who are you?" she murmured, but the face said as little as the rest of her. It was impossible to tell whether, in life, these blunt and unfinished features had borne the imprint of prettiness, timid watchfulness, or sly mischief. If there had once been curiosity or placidity or impatience here, life had not had time to etch it into permanence. Only a very short time ago, the body and soul of this little girl had still been securely attached.
