Wonderful retelling of an old favorite

I have long loved Wuthering Heights and since I love Downton Abby and Joanne Froggatt, this seemed like it was a safe bet for a good listen. I was right. It is. Joanne does a fantastic job with the different voices and accents and gives a wonderfully vivid reading of this timeless classic.

So Much Fun!!

I love these books so much I've listened to them multiple times. They are so much fun! David Tennant is a brilliant narrator with a wide range of voices and, of course, fantastic acting. Magic, adventure, giants, spoons, flying doors, and well written prose. This series is now one of my favorites!

Just Keep Swimming!

This was a fun listen. I'd never heard for Maysoon Zayid before seeing this offered as one of Audible's free books of the month. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is a great story of overcoming life's obstacles and to keep on trucking even when you're told no or that you can't do something. She's blunt and honest about her disabilities, but does not throw a pity party. She'll make you laugh and cheer along as she finds and realizes her dreams.

One of my favorite books, just ok narrator

I first read these books years and years ago and loved them despite the more disturbing qualities like torture and child abuse. I decided to read them again, but to listen this time around. This narrator is ok. He needs to find a better producer who can manage sound levels so you're not constantly reaching for the volume button. He does a good job of differentiating character voices and does put his heart and soul into the reading, which I appreciate.

Meh... I expected better

I attempted to read this book several years ago and never could get in to it, so I gave up. Then we saw the Broadway show last year, which was great! I decided to give the book another go, but decided I'd try listening this time. It's still just ... meh. The author is fair, but it's kind of weird having a male narrator for a book with mostly female main characters. I was expecting more from the story than a cast of characters driven largely by sex and greed. The Broadway show is better. I'll stick with that.

Butchered by the narrator

I have long loved the Sword of Truth books. I decided to listen to them as I drive for work since it's been a long time since I read them in paper form. I'm regretting this decision. I feel compelled to finish listening as I've started on this audible journey through the books, but I'm struggling. The narrator sounds like a robot half the time, puts periods where there are none, and completely obliterates other periods, commas, and semi-colons that are supposed to indicate a pause to a reader. When he's trying to voice a distressed, ghostly, or other not "standard" mood of a character he sounds exactly the same - weird falsetto monotone. Someone needs to rescue this book from the butchery enacted by this narrator.
