If you care for our future as a society and civilization, you need to read this book, learn from it, and understand the systems we have built here in the USA that limit so many of us in harmful, hateful, and intentional ways. We today may not have built our caste system, but we live in it, and we must accept our duty to tear it down. Excellent book in print or in audio form.

I volunteer as an advocate discussing the environmental and public health problems that are caused by light pollution. This book has been a key influencer in my recent public discussions on the subject. The health impacts across the entire spectrum of our biology from experiencing awe and wonder are only now becoming known, but it is already clear that we must change our lives. We must pull back from the work 80% of the time, hustle to survive, mentality of modern life in the USA. We need to reconnect with our connections to the natural world, to slow down, look around and be absolutely amazed at the planet and people around us. If we can find awe again, we will accomplish anything,

Thinking outside of your own local environment, and your own timeframe of today, is a vital skill in todays world. This excellent book helps conceptualize thinking long term, of feeling consequences of our actions not just tomorrow or next year, but in hundreds, thousand, and millions of years. We make an impact that can spread across time and the globe. I highly recommend this book.

Craig Whitlock has penned an outstanding summary of his incredible investigative work for the Washington Post concerning the USA’s longest war. Anyone wishing for a solid background on the decades of mismanagement and deception that helped keep the US involved in Afghanistan should listen to or read this book.
