Historia
They all thought he was gone. But he was alive and trapped inside his own body for ten years. In January 1988 Martin Pistorius, aged 12, fell inexplicably sick. First, he lost his voice and stopped eating. Then he slept constantly and shunned human contact. Doctors were mystified. Within 18 months, he was mute and wheelchair-bound. Martin's parents were told an unknown degenerative disease left him with the mind of a baby and less than two years to live.

I liked it but it wasn't my kind of narrator. Its almost too dry for the subject matter.

Stellar as usual

I love the Carpenters. This could possibility be the best book yet if it wasn't for the Murphy/Dresden romantic teases. I don't like Karrin very much. But Molly --and most especially Charity-- were the highlights of this story. I can't wait to see how this apprenticeship with Molly develops.

Six months ago, the world ended. The Baugh Contagion swept across the planet. Its victims were left twitching, adrenalized cannibals that quickly became know as Junkies. Civilization crumbled as people created isolated safe havens to hide from the infected... and the possibly infected. Now, as society nears a tipping point, lives will intersect and intertwine across two days in a desolate city.

Pretty enjoyable. I liked that you could listen to any chapter out of order and look for all the hints connecting each story to the other.

Historia
This acclaimed best seller from popular historian Alison Weir is a fascinating look at the Tudor family dynasty and its most infamous ruler. The Six Wives of Henry VIII brings to life England’s oft-married monarch and the six wildly different but equally fascinating women who married him. Gripping from the first sentence to the last and loaded with fascinating details, Weir’s rich history is a perfect blend of scholarship and entertainment.

The hours just flew by
Revisado: 04-28-14
This did not feel like 22 hours at all. In fact, I was a little sad when I finished. I was always fascinated with the Tudor era so this book feels like candy. It is almost too indulgent-- I gobbled it so fast.

At this point, I think it's a safe bet that I will enjoy anything read by Steven Pacey. And I honestly think Joe Abercrombie gets better with every book. Very very addictive.

One of my favorite books ever, read and performed by some of my favorite people. I do think you have to read or listen to an unabridged version first to fully appreciate the story but this was very entertaining.

A Wonderful Surprise
Revisado: 05-06-13
I had never read the printed version of the book so I didn't really know what to expect from the audio version. Now I'm glad that I listened to the audiobook first because I absolutely loved this reading by Anne Hathaway. It was so much fun! She went all out with different voices for the different characters and it felt almost like theatre in my head.
The story is also a timeless classic for good reason. If you enjoyed the movie, the book offers a darker side to the tale and is definitely worth looking into.
