Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

I love the transparency

I’m glad Jennete explained her eating disorder: cause, effect and recovery. I’m glad she took care of herself in the end.

I listened to this audiobook while moving from a 3BR house to a one bedroom apartment. I had A LOT to get rid of and the ideas in this book gave me the permission to do so. For that I’m grateful.

Historia
"While the history books are filled with tales of obsessive visionary geniuses who remade the world in their images with sheer, almost irrational force, I've found that history is also made by individuals who fought their egos at every turn, who eschewed the spotlight, and who put their higher goals above their desire for recognition." As a student of Humility, I’m just starting to understand pride and ego. I listened to this book twice back to back and finished it realizing the author had such a depth of knowledge about the ego that I now want so this was the beginning of my journey. Thanks Ryan!

I loved listening to this audiobook because it helped move through some of the science stuff a bit smoothly. But I love the bibliography at the back of this book which makes the whole topic feel really grounded in research.

I have been struggling to stand on my post and this podcast gave me so much clarity and courage to begin. This podcast was also recorded on my birthday which feels like such a personal detail from God towards me. Thank you Apostle Eckhardt!
