Historia
The Climb is a true, gripping, and thought-provoking account of the worst disaster in the history of Mt. Everest: On May 10, 1996, two commercial expeditions headed by experienced leaders attempted to climb the highest mountain in the world, but things went terribly wrong...

Boukreev was true hero on Everest. You will appreciate this through this account.

I read John Krakauer’s Into Thin Air before and felt that his portrayal of Boukreev was unjust. This is a critical read to better understand the full picture of a very complex situation in an incredibly difficult and dangerous place. In my eyes, Boukreev was a hero.

Historia
With heart-pounding descriptions of avalanches and treacherous ascents, Barry Blanchard chronicles his transformation from a poor Native American/white kid from the wrong side of the tracks to one of the most respected alpinists in the world. At 13 he learned to rappel when he joined the 1292 Lord Strathcone's Horse Army Cadets. Soon kicked out for insubordination, he was already hooked on climbing and saw alpinism as a way to make his single mother proud and end his family's cycle of poverty.

You feel like you are there on the mountain, climbing with Barry
Revisado: 07-03-20
All the components of an excellent mountaineering book full of adventure and raw emotion. I had the opportunity to climb with Barry Blanchard in the Canadian Rockies where it is impossible not to stumble upon one of his impressive first ascents and new lines on the walls and peaks. I have an autographed hardcover as well but listening to the tales from his own voice adds a completely different dimension to the experience. Highly recommend this audiobook!
