What made the experience of listening to All These Worlds the most enjoyable?

Ray Porters' reading brings character and nuance to each of the Bob's. Strong story, fun pacing and payoffs at the end of each book in the series keeps me coming back. I've not been disappointed by one book in this series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bob...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, i will go through this series once more in a year or two from now just to reassess how much i like this story.

Any additional comments?

I find myself bored and distracted by a lot of hard sci-fi because the writing is more about the world than the story and characters and how they interact in that world. This story takes a character and is injected into a sci-fi world. The world is built around how the protagonist discovers it. I'm not lost in pages and chapters of exposition and uninteresting busy work to appreciate the story's world. Bobiverse throws you into the world, and builds the blocks around you as it goes. Only times you may be lost is if you totally do not get the references to current and past pop-culture. Don't know who Goku, Mario, or Thor is? It's not essential for enjoying the story but you might be lost for a second or two as to why the names mean something to the characters. A quick google search and wikipedia page browsing should bring you up to speed if you even care. CHECK OUT THE SERIES. I highly recommend it.

What does Robert Powell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great pronunciations. Reading the book instead of the audio I would have lost a lot of how words should sound.

Any additional comments?

Get the audiobook version. It's much better. The book contains many odd words, accents and pronunciations and Robert Powell knocks them out of the park. Reading them on paper (or ereader) would lose some of the charm that Robert Powell brings. At first glance i thought this might be a pain to get through but the narrative is largely liner and goes on a fun strange journey to the way English is today.

Seriously check it out, its fun! Get the audiobook version!

I picked this book up because I was in search of a mystery story where if you paid enough attention you could possibly figure it out before the end. The book clearly lays out that of these characters there is a killer, a bomber, a burglar, and a mistake in chapter 1. I will not go into any details since i'm aiming for no spoilers. There is just no peices of logic that you could conceivably connect to solve the mysteries here. they are forced to a finish that the moon logic to solve is just not realistic. If you do check out this book (which I'd still recommend for younger audiences) try going in with no illusions of solving a mystery. You'll enjoy this book more doing that. Just enjoy the story and characters and the fun ride that makes no sense.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No it was not. I did finish the book start to finish because i wanted to give the story and author a chance to redeem it. I was hoping for one female character to matter at all and not just be there for another hero to try and have sex with. I wanted a story with some complex moral and ethical choices, however all you get with this book is a story that seems to be written by a 16 year old who is into fan fiction. Pass this book and pick up "Confessions of a D-List Supervillain" by Jim Bernheimer instead. More details are in additional comments area.

Would you ever listen to anything by Matt Carter again?

No

Did Nicholas Techosky do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Narration of this book is great. Story is a different story.

Any additional comments?

Every female character in this story seems to only serve the purpose of being a sex object or plot device. It's frustrating when a story devolves to characters exchanging plot development while getting sexual favors. I would compare the amoral tone to Bret Easton Ellis's works if you were to remove any higher social commentary. Just groups of people murdering, taking drugs, having sex and instead of filling in logistics you make up a drug called montage to skip large gaps in time. Follow it up with some annoying hashtag history to fill in some of the world and you got a poorly developed, oddly politically conservation superhero story that devalues woman and doesn't have a real conclusion, moral, or proper story. Also the description made it seem more like a Supervillain appeared and heroes are really trying to win him over, i was not expecting a reality tv show spin-off lacking any real depth. If you want to hear a story about a supervillain that is much better i'd suggest "Confessions of a D-List Supervillain" by Jim Bernheimer. If you want something more for teen or young adults try "Please Don't Tell My Parents I'm a Supervillain" by Richard Roberts. If you want something a little more somber and don't mind focus being from villain to hero check out "Prepare to Die!" by Paul Tobin. Basically this genre is so full of really great stories that you should not waste your time with garbage like this. Lastly i'll add If you did like this book but want something with more substance try Bret Easton Ellis's "American Psycho".

Woa!, the post office's history is America

The history of the US Post Office is a fun summary of American history. Seriously! Its founding, it struggles during depressions, it was impacted by politics of the time, it delt with race and segregation issues, unions, and privatisation. All that, and the history goes on. The first two chapters didn't really pull me in. I found myself staying up late and listening more once it started getting into cultural things that i'm aware of. Stuff you know of today that i had no idea had any origin within or competing with the Post Office. Wells Fargo, Wolsworth, DHL, FexEx, and Amazon all mentioned and are in this book.

It's worth checking out! If anything just to be able to spout off some nice triva to impress no one. lol

I enjoyed this book, however it was an odd choice to go between Villian and Hero prospective. if you found the Villian story more interesting, may i suggest "Confessions of a d-list super villian" or "the darklord's handbook".

both books are tounge and cheek villian stories about coming to power that mixes comedy and a human aspect that makes the story worth it.

Step backwards for the story

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the previous book. It was a story of children becoming teenagers and dealing with those kinds of things in a PG way. The awakening of their powers and puberty are clearly overlapping. I was expecting the gang to grow up more and develop some of the interesting characters that were introduced in book one. Instead we have cookie cutter new characters and forced sub-plots that build off of nothing from the previous book. It's like the whole cast was in a bubble. Almost no characters from the previous book are developed in this one. Even the main characters seem to freeze if not take a step back from their development.

On top of all the lack of character depth the story is incoherent. It jumps paragraph to paragraph with very little reason. purpose or transition. You will stop to go back 30 seconds to realize you missed nothing the story just abruptly changed for 'reasons'.

Given how much I enjoyed the first book, this is clearly a disappointing step backwards. I still give it a 3 out of 5. The narrator is excellent as well. I hope the next addition to this series improves.

The book is great. Memorizing the contents would be a huge jumpstart. However Vietnamese is a tonal language. I really need to see the words in print to see correct accent. Listening to it alone would be hard to correctly pronounce each word. Why isn't there just an additional PDF English - Viet by chapter. Nothing fancy. Just a PDF or something would have made this product perfect. I'm searching online and cannot find anything :(

The first book in the series is great fun. The second book introduced a bunch of new characters but imo dragged a bit. This book takes all the best aspects and pushes it to the next level of dick jokes and sorcery. I can't wait for next audiobook!
