Historia
Delaney Meyers-Petrov is tired of being seen as fragile just because she's deaf. So when she's accepted into a prestigious program at Godbole University that trains students to slip between parallel worlds, she's excited for the chance to prove herself. But her semester gets off to a rocky start as she faces professors who won't accommodate her disability, and a pretentious upperclassman, Colton Price, who seems determined to despise her. Colton Price died when he was nine years old. Quite impossibly, he woke at the feet of a green-eyed little girl.

Not for me
Revisado: 03-30-25
I listened to this book based on a recommendation. I cannot recall who recommended it to me, but this genre and style of writing is not what I typically enjoy. I found this book very drawn out and hard to get through. I felt like the author spent so much time describing events rather than building an interesting story. A grind to get through and I am relieved it’s finished.

Historia
Sally Diamond cannot understand why what she did was so strange. She was only doing what her father told her to do, to put him out with the rubbish when he died. Now Sally is the centre of attention, not only from the hungry media and worried police, but also a sinister voice from a past she has no memory of. As she begins to discover the horrors of her childhood, recluse Sally steps into the world for the first time, making new friends, finding independence, and learning that people don't always mean what they say.

Interesting plot
Revisado: 02-06-25
The main character is SO annoying. We get it you are tired. How many times does he have to mention that. It doesn’t even align that well with the storyline. A great concept for a book. I enjoyed the plot and the twists. The very end of this book was a step too far and didn’t make sense.

Frustrating
Revisado: 02-06-25
I love Frieda’s books but found this one incredibly frustrating. It felt like it dragged and the ending/s seemed really unrealistic. Not my favourite of her books.

Good but have read better
Revisado: 12-13-24
The male narrator is so difficult to listen to, such a childish voice. Female narrator is great.
The main character made a lot of silly decisions. It was a good story with twists, but I’ve read better from this author. The twist at the end seemed a bit rushed and unlikely.

Historia
Tara Westover and her family grew up preparing for the End of Days but, according to the government, she didn’t exist. She hadn’t been registered for a birth certificate. She had no school records because she’d never set foot in a classroom, and no medical records because her father didn’t believe in hospitals. As she grew older, her father became more radical and her brother more violent. At 16, Tara knew she had to leave home. In doing so she discovered both the transformative power of education, and the price she had to pay for it.
