Historia
Acclaimed, best-selling author Lori Wick’s The Proposal is a moving tale of Christ’s love at work in early 19th-century London. William Jennings is not married and likes it that way. But when a relative passes away, he is suddenly guardian of three young children. This unexpected development provides him a male heir without the bother of a wife, yet the children quickly become more than he can handle. Finding help from a truly remarkable woman, he learns to see the world in a completely different light.

Great story
Revisado: 01-09-24
I read this book over 20 years ago and was excited to see it on Audible. The story was just as sweet as I remembered. The characters grow and learn throughout the book, and their development is well paced and doesn't feel forced. The narrator does an excellent job with all the characters, especially the children, and I didn't find any of the voices over the top or hard to listen to.
This is a very sweet, slow-paced, friends to lovers trope, As with most of Lori Wicks novels, it has a very strong Christian faith message. She is one of my all-time favorite authors and love this story of growth and faith.

Historia
With Britain caught up in WWI, Jack Benningham, heir to the Earl of Stonebrooke, has declared himself a conscientious objector. Instead, he secretly works for the Crown by tracking down German spies on British soil, his wild reputation and society status serving as a foolproof cover. Blinded by patriotism and concern for her brother on the front lines, wealthy suffragette Grace Mabry will do whatever it takes to assist her country's cause.

Absolutely loved this book
Revisado: 09-11-23
This story was really intriguing from the start. I learned a few things that I previously was unaware of during WW1. I didn't know what a splatter mask was, and I also didn't know about the Women's Forage Corps; I had only known about Land Girls (Women's Land Army). I love a great historical fiction novel that teaches me bits of history along with a good, solid story.
The characters in this novel are well-rounded and likable people. Even the ones that you think will be hard to care about make you feel for them during their sorrows and feel delighted in their joys.
The FMC grows so much throughout this story, and her growth doesn't seem pushed, nor rushed, it is very detailed and organic as she learns to be less judgemental and offer the grace that she knows Christ offered her. Her testimony helps lead others to reflect upon their own lives and eventual spiritual journeys.
The MMC is such a wounded soul. His personal demons really are of his own making. He is almost a mystical being to the local villagers, as he is reclusive and never seen. The folklore around him is disturbing for him, causing him emotional distress, and this, alongside his emotional trauma and physical pain, just make him angry all the time. As he begins to heal, emotionally, physically, and even spiritually, I was absolutely joyful.
The audio performance is really good. Justine Eyre brought a richness and depth to the characters; her cadence and manner of narrating being very pleasant to hear.

As the Envoy of the Four Kingdoms, Wes has had his purpose decided since birth: sacrifice the treasures of the people to the dragon gods, and they will keep Kaveryth safe. For five years, he’s been forced to watch his kingdom fall into ruin while carrying an unbearable grief of his own. The Elders insist that they must continue to be faithful to the Dracodei, but Wes is beginning to doubt that their protectors are holding up their end of the bargain.

SO good!
Revisado: 09-04-23
This is an excellent fantasy tale; it ends on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait to begin book two! The premise of how a few people discover that their entire religion might be a lie is so interesting, especially when incorporating the fantasy elements of dragons, elves, and dwarves. All of whom are in a power struggle to rule the kingdoms. I have a feeling that life for all the people is going to be turned upside down and inside out, as more people 6 accept the truth about The High One.
This is a book that caught my attention very early in and kept me excited all the way through. I've been talking non-stop about this book to my husband and teen sons, who I know will also enjoy this story.
I enjoyed this audio so much and hope the remaining books in the series will also be narrated by Kyle Adams. He does a fantastic job at bringing the story to life. His narration of the individual characters is good. One is able to tell which character is speaking during conversational dialog. His ability to narrate female voices is also on point.

Historia
After the settling dust of the demon uprising and two years of peace, rumblings from the Menzoberranzan drow have Jarlaxle nervous. Worried his allies may be pulled into a Civil War between the great Houses, he is eager to ensure Zaknafein is armed with weapons befitting his skill, including one in particular. A powerful artifact, the sword known as “Cutter” has started wars, corrupted its users, and spilled the blood of many, many people. Nonetheless - or maybe because of that - the rogue Jarlaxle and a small group will go on an expedition looking for the weapon’s last wielder.

Historia
Split between time and two worlds, Zaknafein had always been conflicted. That inner turmoil was magnified by his inferior position as a male dark elf in the matriarchal drow society. Only his status as one of the greatest warriors - as well as his friendship with the mercenary Jarlaxle - kept him sane. When he finally perished, he was content knowing he left behind a legacy as substantial as his son, Drizzt. Except...someone isn’t ready for Zaknafein to be dead. And now he’s back, hundreds of years later, in a world he doesn’t recognize.
