If you've reached the reviews for Audible's production of Windwalker, no doubt you've already seen reviews for the two preceding books but it must be said again, having toughed it out through all three: Dara Rosenberg is the worst narrator. The story is otherwise good.

As you have no doubt read in previous reviews the reasons that Dara Rosenberg is terrible at reading books, this review will instead focus on the degree of terribleness she exhibits.

Merriam-Webster describes 44 synonyms for feces in its thesaurus, ranging from the clinical to the juvenile. If asked to describe which best describes Rosenberg's skill as a narrator, one would be forced to use all of them. There is a persistent myth that humans only use 10% of the immense computing power of the human brain-- of course, when narrating, Rosenberg turns her brain off entirely. When a spell such as Dissonant Whispers or Mind Blank calls for incoherent noise as a verbal component, it would not be inappropriate to recount exactly a passage as narrated by Dara Rosenberg.

I hope everyone who isn't named Dara Rosenberg has a nice day.

Oh, so many times I had to stop. So many times I had to go do something else. It took me so long to get through this.

Elaine Cunningham wrote a wonderful book with fascinating characters, some possessed of unexpected depth, and it's truly enjoyable.

Dara Rosenberg butchered it. From abject failure to pronounce simple English words to an inability to speak in conversational tone, to voices leant to characters that badly mismatch the characters' personalities and archetypes, Dara manages to make listening to this story a chore. Regrettably, as I know I'll never make myself focus on reading the book off a page, I am bereft of options; I plunge once more into the breach to complete Cunningham's saga, armed with a thesaurus of expletives, ready to curse the name of Rosenberg at every mangled fifth word.
