Historia
A sexually charged and wickedly funny thriller starring Tony Award-winning actor Billy Crudup, Harry Clarke is the story of a shy Midwestern man leading an outrageous double life as the titular cocky Londoner. Moving to New York City and presenting himself as an Englishman, he charms his way into a wealthy family's life as the seductive and precocious Harry, whose increasingly risky and dangerous behavior threatens to undo more than his persona.

Interesting Concept, Excellent Performance
Revisado: 12-19-19
I certainly enjoyed having this play in audiobook format, especially since I really wanted to see it while it was being performed. The performance, by Billy Crudup, was excellent. The play itself, however, was good but not great. It wound up a lot of tension that at the end, seemed to go nowhere. However, it was an excellent character study and by the end, even though I hated everything Harry Clarke stood for, I felt for Philip Bruggelstein.
You have to note though, that this audiobook consists of four separate parts: Harry Clarke (the play), Lillian (another play by the same author), and two separate interviews with the creatives. I personally didn't realize that the interviews were included, so I was a bit shocked to hear them begin.
Really enjoyed this performance, and I can't wait to see more works of theater here on Audible!

Enjoyed the Musical Performances, Hated the Rest
Revisado: 12-19-19
I really wanted to like this. I love Fiddler, I love books, I love musicals - what else could I ask for? But this felt too self-important, so much so that I literally could not take it some times. The story excerpts were dull, and as much as I liked Al Silber in the recent production of Fiddler on the Roof, for some reason, I couldn't get into her here. I really only liked the musical performances, especially those by Ben Moss, who has a voice like silk. Therefore, I give 3 stars for the performance and the performance alone. Everything else was not my cup of tea.

What if you could go back in time and change the course of history?11.22.63, the date that Kennedy was shot - unless.... King takes his protagonist Jake Epping, a high school English teacher from Lisbon Falls, Maine, 2011, on a fascinating journey back to 1958 - from a world of mobile phones and iPods to a new world of Elvis and JFK, of Plymouth Fury cars and Lindy Hopping, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill who becomes the love of Jake's life.

Worth Every Second
Revisado: 12-18-18
This is the first Stephen Hill novel that I have completely read. And my God. He can write. I know that's no surprise to anybody, ever, but it was my first experience with it. 11.22.63 made me cry, laugh, and had me so thoroughly engrossed that the 30 hrs. flew by. I loved his explanation of time travel, I loved the harmonies. And Jake (George) was an amazing character. Craig Wasson did a phenomenal job with the narration. Maine and Texan accents, impersonations of Kennedy, different ages, and female characters were all covered and covered well. The whole experience gave me absolute chills.

Time-Travelling Epic
Revisado: 08-07-18
I will admit, it took me a little while to get into the rhythm of the story. But my god, once I got it - I got it. It was absolutely amazing!!! I was so intrigued that I immediately went to buy the second half of the story. Connie Willis completely took and folded me into the story, and Katherine Kellgren did an amazing job as narrator. She kept every single character separate and unique. The story itself was complex, interesting and engaging. Stick to the very, very end - you won't regret it!!

Exactly As I Wished 😊
Revisado: 12-28-17
One of my favorite memoirs, with the subject being my favorite movie. I am always up for behind the scenes trivia for movies, so I really appreciated all of the stories and character sketches that Cary Elwes gave. Speaking of Cary Elwes, he was a wonderful narrator and human - doing some truly awesome impressions of his co-stars. I also enjoyed hearing the stories from the other people involved as well - it added a personal touch to an already enjoyable reading. It was if I was sitting down with them, everybody gathered around and reminiscing. They were all so warm and complimenting to each other, which was just the pick-up I needed at this time. It seemed to go so quickly.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who loves the Princess Bride, movie trivia, or simply a warm-hearted memoir with wonderful stories.

Historia
James Gleick's story begins at the turn of the 20th century, with the young H. G. Wells writing and rewriting the fantastic tale that became his first book, an international sensation: The Time Machine. A host of forces were converging to transmute the human understanding of time, some philosophical and some technological - the electric telegraph, the steam railroad, the discovery of buried civilizations, and the perfection of clocks.

A Look into the Wibbly-Wobbly thing we call Time
Revisado: 02-11-17
This was a charming musing of time itself, not just travel. It goes over every aspect - the science, the literature, and the effect on pop culture - that time-travel and time can offer. The scenes flow into each other, using famous quotes and scenes to illustrate the points. It can be repetitive at times, but in a book with this subject, you can only expect to go around in circles. I absolutely loved the ending, and can't wait for a re-read. And the narrator, Rob Shapiro did a good job at keeping it engaging.

Absolutely loved the portrayal of obssession
Revisado: 02-05-17
What made the experience of listening to You the most enjoyable?
I love how the story was able to rationalize the creepiness of the whole affair. I loved and hated and felt everything.
What was one of the most memorable moments of You?
I honestly can't describe it without spoilers. And I wouldn't want to do that to you.
Which character – as performed by Santino Fontana – was your favorite?
Joe, of course. He perfectly conveyed the insanity cloaked by a veneer of normality.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed right out loud in many (many) places, visibly cringed in others.
Any additional comments?
Some of the content was a little too explicit for me. Overall though, I love the pace and sense of humor that fills the book.

The compelling, inspiring (often comic) coming-of-age story of Trevor Noah, set during the twilight of apartheid and the tumultuous days of freedom that followed. One of the comedy world's brightest new voices, Trevor Noah is a light-footed but sharp-minded observer of the absurdities of politics, race and identity, sharing jokes and insights drawn from the wealth of experience acquired in his relatively young life.

A Funny, Emotional Read
Revisado: 01-03-17
I thoroughly enjoyed this memoir. I picked it up at random, which can always be a hit of a gamble when it comes to audiobooks. But this was in turns funny and touching, always making the listener feel like they were there. In my mind, I grew close to and majorly respected his mother, and you could feel the love and respect he has for her. South Africa and the differences in the townships were described to a T - I could practically see in my mind! His voices were perfect, and by the end, I was openly sobbing. I would definitely recommend this to everyone - there's something in it for everybody 👍🏾 Definitely want to hear more from him now.

One of THE best endings I've ever read...
Listening to the audio version of this was the best decision, I believe, as it made the surprises so much more surprising! It started off okay, and because of certain inconsistencies, at first I was a bit overwhelmed. However, as you get through the book, sooo many things make sense. Honestly, it was worth the five stars just for that.
